2041 Restore Point

The year is 2041, and detective Emma Trochinowska is following a suspect who is supposed to be a terr0rist, k1lling people so they wouldn’t be able to be revived through the Restore Point technology, a technology which brings them back pretty much like in Frankenstein minus the body parts from different people, as long as they do a back up of their mind every 48 hours.

Emma almost catches the terr0rist, but he throws himself off the building.

Her superior later scolds her for not catching him, as he wanted to interrogate him. He thinks that she k1lled him, and takes her off the case as Europol takes the case. He is also complaining about her not being able to work in a team, just by herself.

 

Emma’s husband was k1lled in a terr0rist attack, and she keeps on replaying their last conversation.

Emma’s superior gives her a new case, and she has to work in a team.

It’s seemingly a car crash, and the victims are the scientist who developed the Restore Point technology and his wife. At the accident site, we find out they were actually murdered, as the wife was strangled and he was sh0t.They didn’t back up their memories, so the police are gonna do the autopsy.

The owner of the Restore Point facility holds a press conference reassuring the people everything will be fine although the facility is gonna be privatized.

The press also thinks the developer and his wife were k1lled by the terr0rist group River of Life.

Talking to the owner of the facility but mostly with doctor Petra, Emma finds out someone hacked into the Restore Point system and deleted the developer’s back up memories, while his wife was not interested in being revived.

Afraid the press will find out about it, and the public will panic, the owner wants everything to be solved quietly.

Looking through the contacts of the developer’s wife, Emma finds out she talked a lot with Victor Toffer. Looking into him, she finds out he has ties with the terr0rist group “River of Life”.

She asks for an arrest warrant after she sees the beads he’s wearing in a picture match the beads found on the developers’ dead wife.

Leaving home, Emma is stopped by the developer, who seems to be alive and well. The man asks for her help without the police involvement, and Emma, who’s not good at working in a team, starts to work with him to find out the truth about what’s going on.

The movie looked like a Hollywood movie, very well done. I liked the colors, the way it was shot and the camera angles.

It had great visual effects as it’s set in a digitalized society. Emma has a hologram last conversation of her husband, the piano’s musical notes are digital, and it can also play music by itself (I know pianos like this already exist); the police crime scene barrier is digital, the bodies at the crime scene are holograms, her car is self driving (I know these kind of cars already exist),there are magnets like a glass coin that they put behind the ear to download their memories in case of their death; Emma has a big screen tv which also works like a computer and calendar controlled by two rings she wears on her index finger. She also has a smart home, as the home computer is connected to the car, starting it before she gets to it, and even opening the door.

 

I don’t know why, but the movie bored me. I also can’t wrap my mind around how can one be brought back within 48 hours from their death, because the soul leaves the body. This kind of idea works in reality only without a soul.

SPOILER - I felt it should have ended when the police captured the villains, as showing more to me it felt like it ruined it. END OF SPOILER

The actors seemed to have been good, as I watched an Italian dubbed version. The actors who did the dubbing were good.

The soundtrack was good.
