A nightmare on Elm street 2 : Freddy’s revenge

The movie is the second in the “A nightmare on Elm street” franchise, and picks off where the previous one left off.

5 years after the events of the first movie, Jesse and his family move into the house Nancy and her mother lived in. Ever since he moved into the house, Jesse has been having vivid nightmares about Fred Krueger, who is trying to k1ll him and his friends, and wakes up screaming.

He becomes friends with a schoolmate after they end up fighting in the gym class, and are both punished to do laps together for a long amount of time. After they shower, his friend, Grady, tells him the girl in the house he moved in, went crazy after her mother locked her up in the house, putting bars on the windows, and watching her boyfriend get butchered.

That very same night, Jesse dreams about Freddie telling him they have work to do, as he’s got the body, while Freddy’s got the brain.

While finally unpacking the boxes in his room, his girlfriend, who helps him out, finds Nancy’s diary, and as they start reading it, Jesse realizes she dreamt about the same man.

Jesse also complains about being very hot in his room.

Soon, he wakes up as everything is melting in his room, and walks out into the rain, half naked. He ends up at a gay bar, where his gym teacher catches him, and takes him to school to run laps as punishment (WTF!?). Freddy shows up and k1lls the teacher.

It doesn’t take long, and Jesse realizes he is possessed by Freddie, as he wakes up in his sister’s room ,as he was about to attack her!

I personally didn’t like this movie, it honestly bored me. I honestly don’t like slasher movies, as I need a reason for why these k1llers do what they do, and k1lling k1ds just because Freddie likes it, it’s not my cup of tea.

I have to admit to what other reviewers said, that the movie does have gay undertones with everything going on in it.

The acting was a bit better than in the previous one. Completely unrelated,but, actress Kim Myers, who played Jesse’s girlfriend, looks like Meryl Streep.

The special effects were good.

The soundtrack was so and so.

The movie received mixed to negative reviews (to me a rating under 50 is negative), with a 44% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 43 out of 100 on Metacritic, and grossed 30 million dollars at the box office, against a budget of 3 million (less than its predecessor).
