The movie is based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Catherine MacPhail.

Fay lived a pretty happy life with her parents, until her father got sick on a holiday and found out he had multiple sclerosis.

A year later, her father is in a wheelchair, her mother is cheating, and Fay is trying to cope with everything.

At school, she gets the role of Lady Macbeth. Being nervous and forgetting her lines, her teacher tells her to watch Roman Polanski's Macbeth (1971).

The girl who wanted the part too (and is her understudy), another ginger, tells her she knows she got the part because people feel sorry for her her father is dying.

Fay starts to feel chased, as when she goes to the library, to get the said movie, someone is chasing her, and being told by friends only her nemesis was behind her, she thinks the girl is messing with her head, trying to impersonate her.

She even starts to see someone who looks like her, and one of her neighbors tells her she's seen her taking the stairs (as their elevator is broken most of the time), although Fay tells her she's never taken the stairs.

Unluckily, the movie isn't too subtle, as it's in the title, first of all, then the narration, so we know what to expect from it. The movie is predictable, and if you've seen other movies like this, like for example, Look Away, which pretty much has the same idea with the twins, and the father having to make a decision, you know what's coming.

The movie opens with a bad narration which continues through the movie, until the end.

The movie had a good idea but it was poorly executed, plot wise. At the end we see the movie plays with the idea of guilty conscience, through the father who had to live his whole life with a decision he made when Fay was born. I think it would have been better if we saw the movie from the father's perspective, as a sort of, is he losing his mind, or is it real?

The mother was really bad at cheating, as she didn't even try to hide it from the neighbors, the guy parking the car right in front of their flat, right in front of their apartment windows, as if she wanted her husband and daughter to see her, as most of the times they stayed parked there, and she was going at it in the car with the guy, who is later revealed to be Fay's teacher (and we understand why she really got the part).

I liked Fay's artwork, but didn't like her style, and new haircut. I liked her mother's style.

Movie trivia: Sophie Turner wanted to play the role for she also had a twin who died in utero.

The acting was good.

The visual effects were good.

The soundtrack was good. I liked how they played the in utero sounds whenever the sister makes an appearance, even when she's not really on screen, we only see someone watching Fay. That's her sister's soundtrack.

Rating : Could have been a contender !
