The movie is adapted from the 2007 chick lit novel by Shannon Hale.

 

Jane is a big Jane Austin fan. So big,her house is designed in the Jane Austen Regency era,and her bedroom is like a shrine dedicated to Mr.Darcy.

 

She finds an ad for Austenland, a theme-park dedicated to Jane Austin books,and she books a trip to England. There,she finds out she bought the basic package of the Jane Austin experience,so she gets a room in the attic,not so beautiful dresses, and gets treated like the poor cousin.

 

Austenland has actors hired to play characters of the Regency era,and no one is allowed with any items belonging to our century. The actors are also hired to play the love interest of the women there,and Jane,due to her buying the cheap package,doesn't get a love interest. Or so she thinks.

 

Jane befriends a man who works there,which she thinks part of the staff. Soon ,their relationship turns into something else,and the man breaks up with her.

 

The nephew of the woman who owns Austenland seems to be a living portrait of Mr. Darcy,but Jane doesn't seem to notice. In the end she confirms he is like a living Mr.Darcy,but somehow,she's interested in the servant,not her whole life fantasy. She calls him fake,while she wants a real man,but he's not the fake one in this picture.

 

I really enjoyed the movie,the actors were great. The movie had the whole package,romance,comedy.. I laughed with tears at certain scenes. And I liked her Mr.Darcy. I also loved her dresses and haircuts.

Jennifer Coolidge was a bit too much,as she's playing the usual character we see her playing,the dumb chick.
