Skeeter is the handyman of the hotel his father owned,then sold to a business man who made it profitable. He loves the hotel and hopes one day he will get to be its general manager.

 

He is asked by his estranged sister ,who has to go to a job related week long Arizona trip, to take care of her kids in the evenings,as the rest of the time they are taken care of by her friend and kids' school teacher.

 

Skeeter accepts,and starts telling them bedtime stories inspired by his life,the way his father used to tell him. The next day Skeeter realizes what the kids say was gonna happen in the story,happens in reality.

So,he comes up with a plan to fulfill his dream,of managing the hotel.

 

I personally enjoyed the movie, it's funny, but it also has heart, and character growth. Skeeter starts by not liking Jill, for some unknown reason, wanting to get the hot rich daughter of his boss, but he ends up falling for Jill.

Keri Russell was a beautiful mermaid.

 

The actors were fine, the visual effects good, the stories ridiculous.

 

The movie received negative reviews from critics, the rating scores being under 50 % , but it was a box office success, grossing 212.9 million dollars against an 80 million budget.

Cinema Score audiences graded it a B+.
