Emma is a violin player in the Chicago band, The Drovers (which is a real band ,apparently,playing themselves).She's been blind for 20 years,ever since her mother hit her with her head against the mirror,for playing with her make-up.

 

The night the movie starts,detective John Hallstrom makes a bet with his colleagues he's gonna make her look at him,not knowing that she's blind,so he proceeds to dance awkwardly,and take his clothes off!

 

Emma finally gets a chance to see,as she gets eyes from two donors,so she goes through two surgeries.

Although the surgeries seem to be fine, she can't see that well,and sometimes, she realizes what she saw the next day!

 

One night,after she falls asleep drunk on the couch,she hears noises from the upstairs apartment. She opens the door,but can't see well,so she thinks it's the man in charge of the building.

The next day she gets the image of what she saw,and realizes it wasn't the man in charge of the building,so she goes to the police.

She ends up talking to detective Hallstrom,who thinks her crazy,and dismisses her.

A few days later,they are at the scene of a crime,as a woman has been murdered and raped,after,and wanting to talk to the downstairs neighbors,detective Hallstrom,ends up knocking on Emma's door.

 

They think her an unreliable witness,although she is all they've got,and so far,she gave them real clues about the case.

 

At the hospital for a check-up,her dog reacts to someone, and she sees a weird cross on the floor. Hallstrom shows her a few crosses,and she picks the cross they found at the crime scene.

Unluckily for her,she still can't see that well,so she can't identify the suspect.

 

Emma starts and affair with Hallstrom,who apparently can't commit to a woman.

 

The serial k!ller goes after another woman,and the detectives suspect this might be regarding a donor. But what if Emma's neighbor wasn't the one the killer was after,but Emma herself?

 

The movie was good,it keeps the audience in suspense,wondering who's done it and why?

 

Due to the fact we see through Emma's eyes,I was mostly wondering what was really happening whenever she wasn't seeing things clearly.

 

For some unknown reason,the makers of the movie were obsessed with sports,as Emma's friend takes her to a basketball game,when she asks her if there's anything beautiful in town(eye roll),and Hallstrom takes her to a baseball game when out on a date. I personally don't like sports,so I didn't understand why would a woman be into it,as I think taking me to a sports game on a date is a very bad idea.

 

The visual effects were good,especially for 1993.

 

The actors were good.

 

The soundtrack was Ok.
