Bridget Jones' s Diary : The edge of reason

This is the 2nd installment in the Bridget Jones franchise, and is followed by the 2016 movie, Bridget Jones's Baby.

The movie is based on the 1999 book of the same name by Helen Fielding, who wrote the Bridget Jones book series.

Bridget is finally happy in her relationship,as she has a wonderful 2 months relationship with Darcy. She watches him sleep in the morning, lies she quit smoking, for him,and still embarrasses herself whenever presented the opportunity.

A beautiful woman, Rebecca Gillies, appears on the scene, working with Mark, and Bridget starts thinking he might be cheating on her with Rebecca,as the woman is always at his place.

After a work related party, that Bridget joined Mark at,she asks him about Rebecca and Mark replies "I won't dignify that with an answer" which makes her believe he might be cheating. So she leaves him,and accepts to work with Daniel Cleaver on a travel piece about Thailand.

In Thailand,Daniel tries again to get close to Bridget and win her affections. But as we know,Daniel is a womanizer.

The movie was funny,at times it was just embarrassing and I was embarrassed for her. The movie is one long string of embarrassment after embarrassment, what I like to call 'the all humiliation channel'.

The movie had romance, through Bridget and the introvert Mark, and she was adorable and funny, watching him sleep in the morning, or daydreaming about him.

The movie has the funniest and most ridiculous, and worst fighting scene of all times! I laughed with tears, holding on to my belly!

I personally found Mark Darcy perfect, just like the original Darcy, from Jane Austin's book. Fun fact: Colin Firth also played Jane Austen's Darcy (the character Darcy in this movie is based on,if I'm not mistaken) in the 1995 BBC Pride and Prejudice mini-series.

The soundtrack was fine, some songs were covers, and I prefer the originals. To be honest the only song I liked was Robbie Williams's.

The movie is streaming on Crave Starz, Starz Amazon Prime Channel, Paramount+ on AppleTv, and is for rent / sale on Amazon Prime, AppleTv, Google Play, YouTube.
