Don's plum

Year of release : 2001

Run time : 1h48min

Genre : Drama

Cast : Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire

This is a black and white independent movie, filmed around 1995-1996, focusing on improvisation.

The movie is about a group teenagers (maybe?) who plan to go out, and they try to find new girls to join them. Leo keeps on calling girls who refuse, while a friend of his talks to him, and he just ignores him. Tobey invites girls at a bar, where instead of really talking to these girls, they mostly watch the band (I hated the music). In Tobey's case, finally, a girl agrees to go with him to this diner.

The two meet with a guy who invites the girl he just had s3x with, and a guy who says he stalked a girl to the point he hit her with his car! The same girl becomes the object of Leo's wrath as she disagrees with him on something (because he picked on a large woman who passed by them ), and he calls her names from wh0re to sk@nk for not liking his "humor".

After, they manage to turn her into a psycho, just because Leo's character called her that for no reason. After the guy who brought her said he stalked her, he changed it to, she stalked him!

The characters use the word "f@k" a lot, like it's their favorite.

The men are despicable regarding women, always picking on their looks and not only, as even the owner of the diner they always meet at, asks the waitress who complains about Leo's group, when he kisses her, if she ever heard of toothpaste!

The men are obnoxious, being a*holes to everyone in the restaurant. The entire movie is just them sitting there picking on people who mind their own business or have the misfortune of serving them. Their conversations from the getgo with girls they just met, revolve around getting h1gh and m@sturb@tion!

I've never watched such a boring and meaningless movie in my whole life! After an hour, I turned it off and rewatched Hollow Man!

The movie was awful, it had no plot, and an even worse dialogue.

The acting was awful, as everyone looked like characters in a reality show, and bad directing, as again, it looked the actors were looking at the camera or towards it, definitely not at the people they were talking to, but next to them.

The movie is the perfect example of when you have no ideas, no inspiration, but you're making a movie, still, because, why not?

The acting was the worst I've ever seen. It reminded me of those life size movie cardboard cutouts. It was as if they used those instead of actors.

I hated the soundtrack, which again, is built as songs they listen to or play.

The movie was blocked from being released in the USA and Canada, as Leonardo di Caprio and Tobey Maguire said they only agreed to a short film not a movie.

I watched an interview the producer and writer, Dale Wheatley, gave, and that's why I watched it ,thinking it some masterpiece, but the movie is awful, and considering he said it's all improvised, I understand why the actors wouldn't want it out, as it puts Leo in a bad light. His character was mean and rude to everyone, he bullied a girl to the point he made her cry and leave, he picked on people just for the way they looked. The girl's boyfriend was just as bad, as he never took her side, never defended her, instead saying when she left "I'm not gonna get laid tonight"(why would you? It's not like you helped her with anything! Cowardness is not rewarded! ). Wow!

Leo's character also picked on the food, saying it was awful, some guy who was minding his own business at a table around them, calling him " a serial k1ller". He mostly picks on women, calling them names and picking on their appearance. His character was like Regina George from "Mean girls".

Tobey Maguire was the only nice one, who even took the bullied girl's side. The producer said he was the one who was against the release...

The movie's title, Don's Plum, comes from the name of the diner they meet at.

Viewer discretion is advised, as the movie contains nudity. At one point, there's even some random guy running naked through the diner..
