The movie is the big screen debut of Elvira, who was the host of Movie Macabre (a tv show which aired between 1981-1986, where Elvira played Sci Fi - horror B movies) , and has a 2001 sequel, "Elvira's haunted hills".

 

Elvira is funny and sexy. Her dream is to perform in Las Vegas,but she needs money to get on stage.

She receives a letter that her great aunt died and she needs to be present at the reading of the will.

 

She is left the house.

 

She soon befriends the kids of this very shut in community,who doesn't like her(could be because she keeps on wearing the same ridiculous dress with a huge cleavage,and a very high cut on her leg),and her uncle who was left with nothing,keeps on asking her to give him the recipes book her great aunt left her.

 

The visual effects are bad even for the ‘80’s .

It feels like the actors were asked to act poorly on purpose.But,still,somehow the movie is funny,mostly due to Elvira.

 

The movie received mixed reviews from critics, Cassandra Peterson who played Elvira being nominated for Best Actress at the Saturn Awards, while at the same time being nominated for Worst Actress at the Razzie Awards!

The movie grossed 5.5 million dollars against a budget of 7.5 million.

 

Rating : Could have been a contender !
