35 year old Tripp, still lives with his parents, and doesn't want to leave the nest, as life with them, since his mother is like a servant for him, is very easy. His best friends also live with their parents, and seem..proud of it.
Tripp has flings with women, as the moment he sees a woman gives him "the look" of love, he brings them home to his parents, so they would break up with him.
Ironically, his parents' friends also have kids who still live at home. They hear a couple got their kid to move out, by hiring an expert.
Paula, the expert, thinks men still live at home due to low self esteem (I think it's because at home he has everything he needs and doesn't have to put too much effort into it). She decides to transfer the attachment from the parents to her.
Unluckily for her, this doesn't last long, as Tripp decides she needs to go, so he takes her home.
I personally enjoyed the movie, I laughed with tears the whole time. Every character has its own personality, like for example, Paula has a roommate who is obsessed with getting a mockingbird who sings all night outside her window, so she can't get any sleep. The parents have their own quirks..
Tripp also has some weird encounters with animals who bite him for no reason. Speaking of which, I think the visual effects were pretty good.
The acting was great.
The soundtrack was so and so. At times they played cheesy, bad songs.
The movie, due to how things went, reminded me of 'How to lose a guy in 10 days' (the same set up, the guy finding out and getting upset..the same restaurants with sea food..)
The movie made over 130 million dollars at the box office, against a budget of 50 million.
Viewer discretion is advised, as the movie contains male nudity from the father, who likes to stay naked around the house...
The movie is streaming for 7 days free on AppleTv+, FuboTv, Paramount+ Showtime, Paramount on AppleTv Channels, and for rent / sale on Amazon, AppleTv, Fandango At Home.
Rating : Worth a watch !
