I don’t know what the fuss about this movie is all about.I didn’t find it that amazing.First of all,to me it felt the songs chosen for the dance sequences didn’t match them, considering they were supposed to be the ones the dancers trained and danced to.I feel that the video remakes of this movie that Jennifer Lopez with ‘I’m Glad’ and Gerri Halliwell with ‘It’s raining men’ ,did ,the music matched better the dance moves than the actual music they were choreographed for(because the two ladies used the same choreography).

The movie is about an 18 year old dancer who works on daylight at a factory and at night at a bar/restaurant with a dancefloor where dancers/artists hired there perform.

The first night we,the audience, see her perform, the male lead sees her perform. The man he’s with tells him she works for him.

He starts pursuing her but she refuses him a few times because he’s her boss, and she doesn’t date the boss.In the end they start dating.

Considering he owns the company and is divorced,I’m guessing he’s in his thirties.I guess that’s normal in Hollywood.

There’s also a scene in which the male lead,in his 30’s probably, tells the female lead,18 year old, that she’s not old enough to smoke when she’s smoking a cigarette. But she’s old enough to sack.

The movie felt like a very easy going, not much going on, except for dancers performing.

There’s an attempt at a break-up between the two leads but it’s resolved quickly, and then it happens again,in my opinion for stupid reasons, just because they probably needed that part of the movie in which the characters need to be broken up,because that’s how the movies go.

The actress who played Hanna wasn’t that good,it also felt like her character was cold although it wasn’t supposed to be..like maybe there was this communication failure between them..

The movie ends too fast for me,as in,it feels like it cuts too short, like maybe there’s a scene missing,as right after she is done performing for the arts school, her boyfriend waits for her, gives her flowers and that’s it !

In certain parts of the dance scenes one can tell there are others dancing, instead of the leading actress, men, probably,as the body structure changes, and haircut.

All in all,I can’t say I liked it.I don’t want to watch it again. The dance scenes, some of them were really good, but didn’t match the music playing.

Rating : Could have been a contender !
