The movie is loosely based on the graphic novel of the same name by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell, published from 1989 to 1998.

The year is 1888, and Mary Kelly and her prostitute friends are trying to make ends meet. One of them, Ann, got out, as she is married and has a baby with a rich painter, Albert. When she hears they need 400 pounds to pay the man who is harassing them, she promises to talk to Albert.

She doesn't have the chance, as she is taken by men to the mental hospital where they lobotomize her, putting her baby into the orphanage.

At the same time, Mary Kelly and Ann's prostitute friends start being k1lled one by one, at first by having their throat cut, then being mutilated down there.

Whitechapel police inspector Abberline, who always had the sight, and likes to chase the dragon, since his wife and child died in child birth, sees bits and pieces of the murders. He figures out the murderer is rich, as he offers the prostitutes grapes and alcohol, to make them trust him.

Talking to Mary Kelly, and starting to investigate together, they find out what happened to Ann, where's her baby, and who truly Albert is.

I personally enjoyed the movie. I liked how it was filmed, I liked the 1888's atmosphere, and how sometimes the transition from scene to scene was made.
