The movie is based on Shakespeare's "A midsummer night's dream".

Berke's girlfriend, Allison, breaks up with him, as she doesn't love him anymore, and when the new guy comes in, Striker, who's also in a boy band, she starts dating him.

Berke is set on getting her back. So much so, he auditions for the school play.

At the same time, his friends try to find him a new girlfriend. They set him up on a date with a girl who is not necessarily accident prone, but unlucky, because wherever she goes, misfortune follows.

Kelly, the sister of one of his friends, Felix, helps Berke with the minor part he has in the play, and it's obvious she likes him, but he's set on getting his ex back.

When the star of the play gets injured due to Striker's antics, he nominates Berke for the star's part, and he accepts.

The movie was a light teen 'drama', which bored me a little bit, since musicals aren't my scene. The drama teacher is a bit over the top and funny, with his own dreams of acting. Berke's parents are unusual, as they condone everything he does, and are never disappointed in him!

The actors were fine, most of them sing, their voices are Ok,but not that good.

The movie has cameos by Carmen Electra, Shawn Roberts, Coolio, Vitamin C. Carmen Electra and Vitamin C's names appear in the starting credits, and I don't understand why, as Carmen Electra only appears for a few seconds in the movie, in a club scene! Vitamin C appears in the starting and ending credits, singing! That's it!

The movie was a flop, making almost 20 million dollars at the box office, against a budget of 22 million!

Kirsten Dunst was originally offered Allison's part ,but she wanted to play Kelly, as she sings more. Late singer Aaliyah was supposed to play Zoe Saldana's part.

The movie is for rent / sale on Amazon Video, AppleTv, Fandango at Home, FetchTv.

Rating : Could have been a contender!
