Rae and Michael are traveling to the Southwest, to see a house they want to buy. A series of unfortunate events leads Rae to discover Michael was lying to her about how much money he spent on the car, and that the money she thought they had put aside for the house is gone (as he spent it on the vintage car).

 

She leaves him at a gas station / convenience store in the middle of nowhere, after they have a fight.

Michael slams the car door and it locks, leaving the keys in the engine, and thinking a teen would help him open the door, goes to buy something to open it with, but in the meantime, the teen opens his car door, and steals it.

Stranded at the gas station with only 50 dollars in his pocket, minus the 15 he has to pay for the gas, he waits for someone an old man talked to, to take him to the airport.

While waiting, he mistakes a woman with a crater box in the back of her trunk for the lady coming to pick him up, and he soon discovers she is part of a group of three, who take the convenience store hostage, as they need money to cross the border to Mexico.

A kid in the shop thinks him to be Puff Daddy, and the news people think he is Mike Tyson, so a lot of people gather at the convenience store to see him.

 

This was one of my favorite movies growing up, even last night I laughed with tears the whole movie. The actors are naturals, everything just flows.

Everybody is inexperienced, as it's the robbers' first time robbing a place, and the police's first time in a hostage situation, not to mention, the SWAT team gets lost on the way to their small town.

The actors were all good. Every character has its own quirks, they all feel unique,their own character, so to speak.

Mexican actor Eduardo Yanez (who was famous in Mexican soap operas at the time; He was famous in Romania too, as "telenovelas" were big in our country at the time) plays the main robber, and he's doing a pretty good job.

The soundtrack was awful.

The movie was a flop, as it only grossed 4 million dollars against a budget of 8 million.
