The movie is the sequel to the 1990 Home Alone movie, and is written and produced by the same John Hughes .

 

The McCallister clan is preparing their luggage for spending Christmas in Florida. Again, the unlikeable uncle and his family spend the night at Kevin's place, and in the evening they all attend the school Christmas pageant, where Kevin gets humiliated by his unlikeable older brother, Buzz(what a name!). Kevin pushes him, and Buzz takes all the kids down with him, including the teacher.

 

At home, Buzz gets away with it, as always (this only happens in movies), and Kevin is seen as the bad guy.

 

In the morning they all go to the airport, but in the hurry, Kevin ends up in the flight to New York (which is where he wanted to go, as he heard celebrities stay there). This scene was ridiculous, as Kevin stops to put batteries in his walkman, and ends up following a man dressed like his father. There's no way in real life parents don't buy seats next to their kids!!! I've never seen such a thing before! Also, I know that when I was in a crowd with my parents they told me to hold their hand so I won't get lost!! They just put him on the plane and tell him to find an empty seat (!!!) while the ' father' was on the opposite corner of the plane!!! This movie is absurd and ridiculous on so many levels,just like the first one (and a reason why I didn't like the first one)!

 

When he gets off the plane, Kevin realizes he's in New York, and decides to stay at the Plaza, like he's seen on tv.

He books a room pretending to be his father, and has a bit of trouble with the personnel, as one of them is onto him.

 

In the meantime the Wet Bandits escaped prison in a prison riot, and came to New York ,as they think there's more opportunities. Harry decides they should rob the kids toy store, as they keep the money they donate to the Children's Hospital in the store,without a guard after midnight! (they actually did that in the past?!)

 

Finding out what they're planning, Kevin decides to lure them to his uncle's house, who is renovating, and set up traps for them.

 

I found this movie more entertaining than the first one, although is full of similarities, and follows the same pattern. For example : his father unplugs the alarm clock and they sleep late,again.

Kevin and his family are watching movies with the same actors they did in the first movie. His family was watching a movie with James Stewart (I think it might have been"It's a wonderful life" from 1946),in France dubbed in French, in Florida,dubbed in Spanish!

Kevin is watching part two of "Angels with filthy souls",from the first Home Alone , "Angels with filthier souls" from 1938!

Kevin is tricking people with puppets on strings again, and movie scenes / lines.

 

The bad guys should have died many times over, starting with the first brick thrown at their heads, as the tall one,Marv, was hit in the head with quite a few, from the top of the building, and he was fine,he didn't even bleed! After, they fell so many times, the short one's head (Harry) was set on fire, and he puts it in gasoline or something like it, and he should have been cremated,along with the house! The tall one gets electrocuted, at one point they even show him as a skeleton,but he's fine, after!

 

The acting was better than in the first one. Donald Trump is making a cameo appearance.In the late '80's,early '90's Trump was making a cameo in all the Hollywood movies, he was the ultimate Hollywood darling (I've never seen anyone making so many cameo appearances in so many different kind of movies!), now they hate him.

 

The movie, just like the first one, received mixed reviews,the critics praising the acting,again, at the same time criticizing the dark tone, violence, and the similarities with the first one.

 

The movie made almost 400 million dollars worldwide against a budget of 28 million, being the 3d highest grossing movie of 1992!

 

The soundtrack was Christmasy.

 

The visual effects were good.

 

The movie is 30 days free on Amazon Prime, on Disney+ with subscription, for rent / sale on Amazon Video, Apple Tv, Fandango at Home.
