The movie is a feature-length adaptation of the writer,director ,producer Adamma Ebo's 2018 short movie.

 

The movie is built like a documentary about a famous preacher and his wife,who lose their followers after a scandal the preacher is involved in.

 

A camera crew is following the preacher and his first lady around,as they plan their return on Easter Sunday.

 

The wife is dealing with the cheating, while the preacher still thinks he can make a comeback. They come across as disconnected from their congregation,as they live a lavish lifestyle, they have only designer wear,very extravagant,bedazzled things. They have a mansion with fountains, and own a Rolls Royce ( which to my knowledge is one of the most expensive cars) and a helicopter.

 

They are worried that not many people are gonna show up due to a new ministry arising, which is opening Easter Sunday.

 

The movie is labeled a comedy,and that's why I watched it,but it's not funny,and it didn't make me laugh once.

 

It's never established what the preacher actually did, at first I thought he cheated with 18,19,20 year old women,but then it turned out it was men, although he was preaching against gay people. Also, it's not clear if he really cheated, or molested the men, I think he just bought them things.

 

The pastor comes across as a person who can't see the gravity of his actions,who is in denial and doesn't really repent. Also, he's pretty nasty to his wife.

 

The actors were all great, Regina Hall is one of my favorites, and is always a win for me,I love the way she acts.

 

The movie is streaming exclusively on Peacock and is out in theaters.

 

Rating : Could have been a contender !
