Invaders from Mars
Year of release : 1986
Run time : 1h36min
Genre : Sci Fi / Horror
The movie is based on the 1953 movie of the same name.
David and his father seem to have a very close bond,as they watch the falling stars together, and his father is cheering him on on his dreams of becoming an astronaut.
The same night,David is woken up by a thunderstorm. He goes to the window, and sees an alien ship landing over the hill. He runs to his parents' bedroom, but they don't believe him.
In the morning, his father is acting strange, talking almost like a robot. David notices he has a wound at the back of his head, and he seems to be drinking hot coffee with tic tacs!
From the boy who's favorite parent was his father, David goes to being scared of his father.
His father takes his mother on a night stroll over the hill, and in the morning, she is acting as weird as her father, having the same neck problems as her father.
At school, David has problems with a teacher he's seen eating a living frog, and the woman and one of his classmates, who's father was acting as strange as David's father, are after him.
He confides in the school nurse, who decides to help him.
The visual effects were pretty good, most of the effects were creature features, but the creatures looked ridiculous, and it took me out of the movie,as I don't think such creatures could invent space travel.
The other thing that took me out of the movie was the acting. At the beginning was so and so,but, after,it was just bad! I found myself laughing, quite a few times at their reactions, although it wasn't funny! This movie was an unwanted comedy.
This movie reminded me of the Body Snatchers 1993, a movie I loved growing up(I have the original videotape).
The movie received mixed towards negative reviews, and grossed 4.9 million dollars against a budget of 7 million.
The movie was nominated for 2 Raspberry Awards.
