The movie opens with a small piece of an asteroid which passes by earth, falling onto the wind shield of Lera’s step father, while he’s driving with the whole family in the car.

Lera’s younger step brother,Igor, is asking his father if they can go watch the meteor shower the next day, as the asteroid passes earth.

They leave Lera at school, where she has a running track competition, which she almost wins, until her friend comes with fireworks, to greet her, and she panics, losing.

Lera was in an elevator fire when she was a kid, before her father left to space, having burns on her left arm (could be the right one) and since then she is terrified of fire.

Her father, who’s been working on a space station for the past 6 years, since she’s been in the fire, watches her through the cctv cameras.

It’s Igor’s birthday, and they have a birthday party. Lera’s step dad seems to be really nice, but Lera doesn’t like him nor the kid. Lera freaks out when she sees the fireworks brought with the cake, and storms out.

Her mother goes after her,and while they’re talking, her father is calling from space, telling her mother Lera had a panic attack seeing fireworks earlier at the track.

Her father is like a stalker, as he’s monitoring everything she does misusing the AI on board of his space station, to spy on his daughter though any electronic device.

Her father is way too obsessed with her, as he’s always watching a video of her from when she was a kid ,and dreams about her (honestly, this was too much for me!).

Lera’s father’s team on the space station Mira, are monitoring the asteroid which passes earth. Everything seems to be fine, but after it passes, debris comes in its wake, and falls on earth, wreaking havoc, destroying the entire city of Vladivostok.

When this happens Lera is at home, as is trying to get out of the building, while its collapsing, finding shelter. She is run over by a car, and the old couple in the car put her in their car, trying to take her to a hospital, while they put their cat on her to cure her.

She wakes up and she’s fine, but they can’t use the car anymore, due to the accidents and building ruins all around. Lera tries to find shelter in a store, as it’s hit, and it collapses.

Her father finds her though a bear baby monitor, inside the collapsed building, and tells her how to get out of there.

His space station was badly hit too, and he’s using its last resources to help Lera.

When Lera reaches the safe zone, she realizes her step brother wanted to see the meteor shower and she told him from where he could see it best, a building which was under construction which could be seen from their room window.

She goes to rescue him against her father’s wishes (as his AI, Mira, tells him the building is unstable, and could collapse at any moment).

I personally enjoyed the movie until the last part, with Lera going to the ship, where it lost me.

I really loved the destruction scenes (with buildings collapsing and car accidents), and how they were filmed, sometimes we were shown what was going on in the reflections, like in a car’s window.

I liked the vivid colors.

I didn’t like how they didn’t do their research, as from what I know, one can’t stay longer than 6 months, a year tops, in a non gravity environment, as they won’t be able to walk anymore, the muscles weakening, among many other things (bone and cardiovascular problems).

Mira is the name of the artificial intelligence on board of the space station, the name of the space station, and was named after a binary star, a massive one and a small one, feeding off each other, unable to exist one without the other .

The acting seemed to have been good, as I watched a dubbed version.

The soundtrack was good, I even liked the Russian songs chosen for the movie.

The visual effects were great.
