A serial killer is killing the female students on campus where Andy Safian teaches. After one of the best surgeons in town manage to save the latest victim's life, Andy decides to talk to him. He realizes the man is one of his former school mates.

 

Andy is happily married to Tracy who is a kindergarten teacher. They bought a Victorian house they are restoring and need 14.000 dollars only to fix the pipes.

 

Jed just moved into town with his job, and going out with Andy, Andy asks him to move into their upper floor with rent. Jed does, and they spend sleepless nights,as he plays loud music while having women over.

 

Tracy has strong abdominal pains,and is seeing a doctor.

 

After Andy finds the new serial killer victim dead at her place,the detective finds blood which matches Andy's.

 

After one of her bad episodes of strong abdominal pain,Tracy ends up in the hospital. Jed has to make a decision,after he removes one of her ovaries which ruptured due to a cyst, as the other one is twisted and seems necrotic. She was also pregnant. He tells Andy the fetus aborted due to trauma,and that he has to take out the other ovary as a precaution. Andy gives him the go.

 

When she wakes up, Tracy is not happy with her husband's decision, leaves him, and sues Jed.

 

Having to give a sp3rm sample to the police to take him off the suspects list, Andy finds out he's sterile,so he knows the baby wasn't his. He starts doubting his wife, and starts looking for her. He also finds out her mother,whom she said was dead for 12 years,is very much alive.

 

The movie was good. It starts good,and it gets really good right around the middle .

At first I was wondering why the serial killer story in the background, but this helped the lead find out the truth.

The movie has everything : suspense, mystery, romance.. it pulls you in, and keeps you interested in the story. At least,it did that with me.

I feel it's constructed in two parts,the first one, with the serial killer and the happy newlyweds,and the second, with Andy alone, discovering the truth about his wife.

 

The actors were good, Nicole Kidman was just as good back then.

 

I didn't like the soundtrack, as I felt it didn't match at all.
