My bloody Valentine 3D

The Slasher movie is a remake of the 1981 Canadian movie of the same name.

Back in 1997, on Valentine’s Day, an explosion takes place at the Hanniger Mine, after Tom Hanniger forgot to bleed the methane lines, leaving 7 miners trapped inside. The lone survivor of the mine collapse is Harry Warden, who was found comatose. The investigation revealed Harry k1lled the other miners with his pickaxe to preserve oxygen.

One year later, on Valentines’ Day, Harry wakes up from his coma, and slaught3rs everybody at the hospital, probably thinking he’s still in the mine. He even takes people’s hearts out, putting them in heart shaped boxes.

Tom and his friends are having a party at the mine, although Tom seems scared of going inside, and Harry is paying them a visit in full miner gear, k1lling whoever he finds with the pickaxe.

Axel, Irene and Sarah are hiding from Harry, as he k1lls everyone, while looking for them, and manage to escape him while Tom (who went to get the beer he forgot in the car) enters the mine. The 3 drive off to escape Harry. And Harry almost k1lls Tom when the sheriff sho0ts him and he runs away deep within the mine.

 

10 years later, Axel is the sheriff of Harmony, and is interviewed on the anniversary of the murders.

Axel is married to Sarah and have a son together, as Tom has been missing for the past 10 years. Axel is cheating on her with her employee, who tells him she’s pregnant.

Tom comes back to town, and everybody hates him now because he wants to sell the mine. Nobody knows where he’s been, as he just disappeared.

Tom gets a room at the local motel, and sees through the window, Irene having loud s3x with someone, as his room is right next to theirs.

After telling the guy she had s3x with, the sick history of Valentine’s Day, she realizes the guy filmed her, and goes after him as he leaves, completely naked (who does that? She had time to get her gun, but not her clothes!).

The guy, who’s an a$$hole to her, is k1lled by someone in the miner outfit, and Irene runs inside, hiding under the bed. The miner goes after her, but unable to find her, k1lls the woman working there. Because Irene sighs, he hears her too, and eventually k1lls her.

 

The police find the camera, and sees the miner, sparking rumours Harry is back. They also see Tom walking by the window.

Tom sees Sarah, who tells him she thought he was dead. Axel is not happy Tom came back, as he always thought Tom was the love of Sarah’s life. To this adds up the fact he found a picture of the two of them she kept in her picture box.

The sheriff receives a heart shaped box of chocolates with a heart inside it, which makes people believe it is Harry.

Going to a bar, Tom is assaulted by the men there, thinking Harry is back because of him, due to the fact he wants to sell the mine. The former sheriff tells him people also blame him for what happened at the mine 10 years prior, and Tom says Harry k1lled those people, not him, so why is he the one they hate and blame.

 

After seeing Sarah again, who tells him the people of the town’s own survival depends on the mine, and that whoever wants to buy it is gonna close it, Tom goes to the mine to talk to Ben.

When he’s there, the Miner makes an appearance, locking him up in a utility cage, k1lling the man who went with him.

 

While at the hospital, where Tom had his wound sewn up as the miner hit him with the pickaxe in the shoulder, he runs into Sarah and Axel, who tells them it can’t be Harry, as the former sheriff k1lled him.

When he takes them to the place where he was supposed to be buried, nothing is there, while Ben and the former sheriff say that’s the place he’s supposed to be in.

Axel starts suspecting Tom, but the evidence says he was locked in the utility cage, and Tom decides to prove his innocence.

I didn’t like the movie. Nothing made sense. It just seemed one day Harry Warden went insane, and just started k1lling people left and right for no reason!!! SPOILERS Then the same thing happens to Tom, who due to the trauma adopted a split personality, and just k1lls people for no reason.END OF SPOILERS

I did like how it was filmed, and the colors.

I first watched this movie at the cinema in 3D, and it was real 3D, as I watched other 3D movies, like Resident Evil : Afterlife and Avengers I believe (which apparently was converted in post production hence the bad 3D quality), but when they were throwing something it didn’t feel it was coming at me. With this movie, it really felt it was coming towards me and it was gonna hit me. And, Jensen Ackles looked even more beautiful in 3D than on the small screen, as at the time I was a Supernatural fan.

The acting was good.

The Miner was played Richard John Walters who also played Harry, and by Chris Carnel.

The soundtrack was good.

The visual effects were great, writing as someone who watched the movie in 3D.

The movie had a sequel in the works which was canceled due to the bad reviews.

The movie has a score of 5.5 on IMDB, and a score under 63% from the critics of Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, against an audience score under 5.9 from the same platforms.

Cinema Score audiences graded it a C+.

The movie grossed a little over 100 million dollars at the box office, against a budget of 14 million dollars, being a hit.

The movie was one of the 3 movies Jensen Ackles ever played in while his tv series Supernatural (2005-2020) was on hiatus.

Viewer discretion is advised, as the movie contains female full frontal nudity in a very long scene.

Rating : Could have been a contender !
