The movie is based on the 1987 novel of the same name by Scott Turow.

The movie starts with the lead, receiving a letter from the woman we later find out is dead and used to be his mistress,saying 'I know it's you Stop it'.

They find out she's dead,that she was murdered in her home. As they're trying to solve the case we find out the lead had an affair with her,although married, and that he still pines for her.

The clues all seem to lead to him, as they find his finger prints on a glass and his fluids inside her. He says he didn't do it, and he always has this look on his face,like he's pining for her.

As they're trying to solve the case, and the lead finds one of her former lovers, he finds out she was interested only in men who were power hungry.

 

Events of the past unfold, and we see how she manipulated him into dating her, it seemed she was always in control of a relationship,always manipulating men to get her way. We also see how she lost interest in him,for not wanting to go for his boss' job. So she left him..for his boss! And we find out his boss was considering her for giving her his own job!!Although she was only an assistant!

The movie or should I say the men,started to annoy me fast, as it turned out most of them had affairs with this woman who used them for job opportunities,and when they didn't want more, didn't want to get the job of their boss, and so on,she left them immediately,as I guess,she liked power hungry men. Problem was, they kept on following her around like lost puppies, the lead kept on calling her,although he was married and had a child!

I found them so pathetic!

The victim,whom we were supposed to care for, was soon to be revealed as a wh0re,who slept her way to the top. She was unlikeable, so I didn't care for her. She was no good, she got what she deserved.

My favorite character was the wife.

The acting was fine.

I didn't like the soundtrack,it felt it didn't match what was on the screen when played.

The movie received positive reviews, the critics praising the writing, acting and directing. It grosses 221 million dollars worldwide against a budget of 20 million, being the 8th highest grossing movie of 1990.
