The action takes place underground,under the sea,in a former soviet facility bought by the Umbrella Corporation,where they have their testing fields. They have New York, Moscow, Tokyo and suburbia testing grounds populated by clones of fifty primary people.
Milla was caught by Umbrella,now ruled by the AI,the Red Queen which wants to kill everybody. Albert Wesker and Ada Wong help Alice get out,and help her get to the surface in an attempt to stop the Red Queen.
SPOILERS
The movie ends with them on the top of the White House,in a battle ground of zombies and dragon-like creatures,ready to take on the forces of the Red Queen which might be coming or not.
Needless to say that this is never addressed in the next one.
What I didn't like - I hated how they were supposed to be in the winter cold of Russia but the kid wasn’t given a winter coat,the adults all had one.
I hated how,although in the winter cold of Russia, they were in skimpy outfits without feeling it- Ada Wong was in a summer dress - why was she in the summer dress anyway? It wasn’t like she didn’t know where she was going,she was working with Wesker to get Alice out of the Umbrella facility.This movie feels like in the 2nd one with Jill Valentine - they were dressed like that because their characters in the video games are --,and didn’t end up hypothermic ,with black limbs frozen from the below zero cold,although she laid in the snow for a long time! She should have been dead from the cold alone!
Alice was shown as wounded from the suburbia shooting,but was never addressed. She fought with Jill who was controlled by Umbrella as if a robot, Jill hit her in the head with the elbow,should have broken her neck,she was fine,although without any powers,not to mention she was shown as having her ribs broken in the fight,but didn’t die like Luther who when his ribs were cracked it stopped the heart and died on the spot! After fighting Jill she fought Michelle’s character without being tired because ,movies.
Everything,the broken ribs I guess,are fixed with an IV! After, she walks normally,we don’t see her suffering.
Also,how does one get controlled like a robot,by having some kind of electrical spider attached to them,without having any wounds,still being human after that thing is detached without any side effects?!
Now let's talk about the acting - Milla, Sienna, Shawn Roberts, the actress who plays Ada Wong,were very bad at acting.
I don’t know what is it with R.E.,they always hire very bad actors,it feels like it’s in the job description.
R.E. Afterlife had some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen,all the women seemed to have been models,because they definitely seemed to have held the belief they were on a photo shoot,due to the fact they always took poses! Even Ali Larter played the same way.
What I liked - Great visuals,great fighting scenes. The kid was great. Michelle Rodriguez was great , I loved how different she was when she played the common girl. I loved the first scene,after the intro we’re used to, giving info about the series, which is played backwards, in reverse.
Great soundtrack.
Rating : Could have been a contender !
