The movie is a comedic retelling of the Romeo and Juliet story.

 

Rosaline is secretly seeing Romeo,as their families are enemies.

 

Wanting to be able to be together in public, Rosaline asks Romeo to go to the masked ball where they can dance together and no one would know it's them behind the masks.

 

Just one problem with that plan, her father is trying to get her married ( mostly with men who could be her grandfather), so, he sets her up on a date .The man ( young and attractive) takes her on a romantic date on his boat,and it starts to rain.

 

As Rosaline didn't show up, Romeo fell for Juliet at first sight.

 

Romeo stops sending her letters,and not just that,he doesn't even answer her letters.

 

When her cousin Juliet,visits, Rosaline finds out Romeo is dating her now,so she comes up with a plan to separate them.

 

The movie was funny, the actors were good.

I liked the places they filmed in, the landscapes, the architecture, and their clothes.

 

There are a few discrepancies, as Rosaline is taking Juliet to a tavern,which at that time,if the women did that,unaccompanied by men, they would have been considered prostitutes( and probably would have been r@ped),not to mention, Rosaline is trying to make Juliet "date" more men,to play the field.

And they speak using today's vernacular.

 

The movie is a Hulu original,and it streams exclusively on the platform.
