Sex and the city 2
Year of release : 2010
Run time : 2h21min
Genre : Drama / Romance
Cast : Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Chris Noth, Alice Eve
The movie is the sequel to the Sex and the City, released in 2008,based on the tv series released from 1998 to 2004 of the same name, adapted from a newspaper column written by Candace Bushnell for The New York Observer from 1994 to 1996,based on her and her friends' lives living in New York in the '90's.
It's been 2 years since Carrie married Mr. Big, and he seems to like staying in,watching tv. He likes so much to stay in,he gifted her a tv for their anniversary!
Charlotte is married and has two kids, one of them crying all the time. She has a hot nanny, whom Samantha tells her to worry about.
Miranda is not appreciated by her boss, who seems to be a misogynist.
Samantha is 52 and going through menopause, so she's taking a lot of vitamins and using a lot of creams to trick her body into thinking it's young, while doing what she's been always doing, have s3x with random men she just met.
The ladies go to one of their gay friends' wedding (I loved their wedding, with the musical theme (although I don't like musicals), the lake and swans ), and to the movie premiere of one of Samantha's exes.
At the after party, hearing about how Samantha made the movie star famous, handling his public relations, she is asked by a sheikh to help him with his business. So he invites her for a few weeks at his hotel in Abu Dhabi, paying for the travel and hotel expenses.
Samantha tells her friends about it, and asks them to go with her, not taking No for an answer.
In Abu Dhabi, they get a culture shock, Samantha gets her creams and pills taken as they are illegal in the emirates, and Carrie meets her ex while shopping.
The movie is labeled a comedy, but I didn't find it funny,I only laughed at something happening towards the end,in the last half an hour!
The movie doesn't really have a plot, it's pretty boring, they started something with the nanny, but it didn't go anywhere. Towards the end, Samantha finally got into trouble, by not abiding by the islamic rules, but it was quickly and easily resolved; Carrie kisses her ex, and tells hubby, but that was also quickly resolved.
I found Samantha a sad character, as she's 52, and still doesn't have a meaningful relationship, her only meaningful relationship is with her 3 female friends, who are all married! Yet she's still single, having one night stands!
I liked the ladies' outfits, the hairstyles, the interior design, and the landscapes.
The movie has a few cameos, like Liza Minnelli, who sang 'Single ladies' at a wedding!, Penelope Cruz and Miley Cyrus.
Viewer discretion is advised,as the movie contains mature content, language and nudity.
The movie is 7 days free on Starz on Amazon Channel; with subscription on HBO Max, HBO Max on Amazon Channel, Netflix; for rent / sale on Amazon, AppleTv, Cineplex, Fandango at Home, Fetch, Sky Store, Rakuten Tv.
Rating : Could have been a contender !
