The movie was written, produced and directed by Ryan Coogler.

It's 1932, and the Smokestack twins return to the Mississippi Delta, after working with gangsters in Chicago.

The moment they set foot in town, they take their cousin, the son of a preacher, with them, and go buy a mill, they want to open that very evening!

They buy a sawmill with stolen money from rival gangster gangs from a racist landowner, and then split, Smoke going to see his ex, asking her to make another protection charm and cook for the evening, while Stack goes with Preacherboy (who's father,a preacher, told him his music is supernatural, conjuring spirits), to find people to perform at their Juke Joint, suppliers, and a bouncer .

In the evening, they all gather at the saw mill, the suppliers also being in charge of making the Juke Joint's sign.

In the meantime, an Irish man who seems to be burning, knocks at the door of a married couple, whom he tells he is chased by the Choctaw people. They agree to shelter him, and when the Choctaw people visit them, the wife answers telling them they saw no one. The Choctaw tell them to beware of the man, as he is very dangerous.

The wife disregards the advice, and when going back inside, she notices her husband is dead, and the man they let in is a vampire.

The Juke Joint seems to be a hit, as everyone is having a great time, Preacherboy getting with the woman he likes (who says she's married), and singing, conjuring spirits of the past and future, without his knowing!

His supernatural singing brings the vampires to their door, who ask them to "let them in",but the twins with Smoke's ex's help, who finds it weird they need to ask permission to enter, don't allow them in.

Mary, Stack's ex, has the amazing idea to go talk to them, to see what they're about, and they turn her. Coming inside, again, she asks the bouncer to "let her in". And he does.

One by one, they start falling prey to the vampires.

I really wanted to watch this movie, but all the singing kinda took me out of it, and I didn't enjoy it as much, especially since I don't like this type of music.

The twins have different personalities, Smoke is tougher, and took care of his brother growing up, as his father used to beat him up really bad, and Stack seems warmer.

The vampires seem to have a hive mind, and they take in the knowledge of the ones they turn, the lead vampire wanting Preacherboy for his power to conjure spirits with his music, and Smoke's ex, Annie, who is a Hoodoo practitioner. Annie says vampires can feel their master's pain, but somehow that doesn't k1ll them!

I didn't like the fact that the creator applied today's mentality to characters from a 100 years ago, like for example, Preacherboy has s3x with a married woman he met a few hours before; Mary as a vampire does the dirty with Stack in the supply room, just like Preacherboy did before. Smoke also does the "devil's tango" with his estranged ex. The twins were gone for 7 years!

The movie is called Sinners, as they are all sinners, Preacherboy has s3x with a married woman, Mary, Stack's ex, is married, but cheats on the husband with Stack. Smoke and Stack did bad things in Chicago..and so on. Their sinning might also be why they were targeted by the vampires, as I think the preacher said, "if you keep dancing with the devil, one day he's gonna follow you home".

The movie is a lot like "From dusk 'till dawn" but with music, as there's quite a few characters who sing, like the vampires, Preacherboy and his love interest.

The actors were good, Michael B. Jordan plays double role, and he does a really good job, playing the two opposite brothers.

The soundtrack was good, but I don't like musicals,so whenever they started singing it bored me (and they sing a lot!). The only song I liked was when the vampires attacked and they had choirs.

I didn't like the last scene of the movie, which happens in our present, put in the end credits, when it's revealed Stack and his love interest are alive, although we see her burn! At first they tell us the vampires are evil (Stack even said his brother spared his life if he promised not to k1ll / turn Preacherboy!), once turned they have a sort of hive mind, but at the end, they are like the usual vampires, not evil anymore! F@ck off movie!

The visual effects were good.

The movie received positive reviews, and grossed 362 million dollars at the box office, against a budget of around 100 million, so far being the 8th highest grossing movie of 2025.

Cinema Score audiences gave the movie an A on an A+ to F scale.

The movie is out in cinemas worldwide, and is for rent on Spectrum on Demand, and for rent / sale on Amazon Video, AppleTv, Fandango at Home.
