Alison Courtland wakes up on a train to Boston, not knowing how she got there. Her husband called the police, and when she calls him from Boston, he tells them she has mental issues.
On her trip back to New York, her friend introduces her to Bruce Elcott ,who seems interested in her.
Her husband is trying to make her see a psychiatrist, Dr. Rhinehart. He sets an appointment for her, but he shows up at noon. The man acts strange, and scares her.
We soon understand this is all a plot to get her fortune,set by her husband, the man with the big glasses, and his husband's mistress, who, I quote, wants all she has,as Alison is very rich.
Bruce comes by with their mutual friend, and find Alison passed out. Her husband comes home and they meet. Bruce seems unconvinced that there's something wrong with Alison.
Alison wants to go out, but her husband doesn't think she should go to the party they had an invitation for, as he has other plans. He doesn't want to go with her, as he wants to see his mistress. So Alison calls Bruce.
Bruce takes her to his brother's wedding. They have a good time, and Bruce refuses to believe she has mental problems as she seems fine and full of life. After Bruce takes her home,she sees that man again. Bruce looks around,but can't see anyone, and he notices how her husband talks to her, without listening to what she's saying, dismissing everything.
After he leaves, her husband prepares the hot chocolate for her, and lets the man with big glasses leave his bedroom.
Bruce feels something's off, and goes back just in time to see her about to jump off the balcony.
Bruce realizes her husband is trying to k1ll her, so he starts investigating, telling Alison about it, but she refuses to believe her husband would do anything to hurt her.
I personally liked the movie, it moves fast, doesn't have a dull moment. The movie is a lot like Gaslight from 1940 or 1944.
I'm always amazed at how beautiful the houses and interior design were in these old movies,and the women's clothes.
The actors are good. The two leading men were good looking (I also thought they looked alike).
I didn't like the soundtrack,but it wasn't as annoying as the old soundtracks are.
