Run time : 1h47m

Genre : Erotic Thriller

Cast : Sharon Stone, William Baldwin, Tom Berenger

The movie is based on the 1991 Ira Levin novel of the same name.

One night, a beautiful woman is thrown from her balcony from the 20th floor of a sliver building.

A while later, Carly is moving in, shocking the neighbors who knew the previous owner of the apartment, as she looks exactly like her.

Carly is a book editor who just divorced her husband of 7 years. She has an annoying friend / co-worker who all can think and talk about is sex.

One day, when she walks into the building with boxes, she meets Zeke, who helps her carry them to his floor (13).

After, she meets Gus (an old man), at the market place, who tells her she looks exactly like the woman who lived in her apartment before she moved in, and that they used to be “pals”.He tells her he is traveling to Japan for work, but he doesn’t get a chance to go, as he breaks his neck in the shower.

Carly is introduced to Jack Landsford, a writer, who seems to be very interested in her, as he keeps on popping up wherever she goes, like when she goes for a run, or at her party. After, he gets very inappropriate, as she keeps on finding him in her apartment, although it’s locked!

At the same time, someone is watching everything everyone in the building is doing, as there’s cameras placed everywhere in the apartments, including in the bathroom, without the people’s knowledge.

At her party, Carly befriends Zeke, who’s asking her out,and they end up dating. Zeke is telling her he owns the building, and later we find out he’s the creeper spying on everyone. He also, before dating her, is sending her a telescope.

Another woman (who’s most of the time away, and high) is being k1lled on the staircase of the sliver building, and Carly finds Jack leaning on top of her, calling the police on him.

Did Jack do it, or is he being set up?

The movie started out well, but around the middle it started to bore me. I got tired of Jack’s antics fast, as he’s acting like a jealous boyfriend, although Carly wants nothing to do with him.

Zeke is a creep who is constantly watching the people in the building.

Carly’s friend / colleague is annoying, as whenever she appears on screen all she talks about is sex!

Zeke keeps on saying Carly doesn’t want to go out with him because he’s younger than her, but they look the same age to me.

The acting was Ok.

The soundtrack was good, but I felt it didn’t match.

Sliver is the name of the building.

The movie grossed almost 124 million dollars at the box office, against a budget of 40 million dollars.

The movie received negative reviews from critics and audiences alike, with Cinema Score audiences grading it a C-.

The movie got a total of 9 award nominations from the Raspberry Awards and Stinkers Bad Movie Awards, for everything from Worst Picture, Worst Director, to Worst Actor and Worst Actress.
