The movie is the 12th installment of the franchise, and the sequel to the 2009 reboot of the series.

The movie opens with captain Kirk and doctor McCoy on a primitive planet, trying the save the inhabitants from a volcanic eruption. In order to save Spock who descended into the volcano, Kirk takes the decision to reveal the space ship, which goes against the Prime Directive.

Spock writes the truth in his report, assuming Kirk wouldn't in his captain log (what are friends for, huh?!rat you out for saving their lives! ),and Kirk is removed from the command of the starship USS Enterprise.

Admiral Pike is reinstalled as the captain, with Kirk as his second in command, Spock being transferred to another ship.

A starfleet officer who's daughter is sick is given an opportunity to save her, bombing, in return, the Section 31 building (a sort of space CIA organization ) of the starfleet.

During an emergency meeting, the same man who asked the officer to bomb the building in order to give him the cure to save his daughter, revealed to be a former commander, is attacking the men at the meeting, k1lling most of them, including admiral Pike.

Kirk wants to avenge admiral Pike's death, and offers to go after the bad guy on Kronos. He is reinstated, and Spock comes back to the Enterprise.

Admiral Marcus orders Kirk to k1ll the commander with new long range stealth torpedos. The chief engineer objects and offers his resignation, which Kirk accepts right away, and replaces him with Chekov.

On their way to Kronos, the Enterprise's warp capabilities are disabled.

On Kronos, Kirk,Uhura and Spock, are rescued by the same commander, and as a Thank You, Kirk beats him up and takes him on the ship.

But what if all this was a well thought plan put in place by the commander, to get to what he wants,as so far it seems everyone is a piece on his chess board?

The movie was action packed, fun and entertaining, I laughed quite a few times, at what was going on, the characters' reactions and comebacks.

Uhura was beautiful, I liked her outfits.

One thing I didn't understand was, why did the women of the starfleet have such short dresses?

The movie received positive reviews, being nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects, and was a box office success, grossing 467 million dollars against a budget of 190 million.

With 467 million earnings worldwide, the movie was the highest grossing Star Trek of the franchise, prompting the makers to release a sequel in 2016, titled Beyond.

CinemaScore audiences gave the movie an A, on an A+ to F scale.

The acting was good, Chris Pine was the best, followed by Zoe Saldana.

Leonard Nimoy is making an appearance. Spock looks like a robot,as he also acts like one. I don't know if it was the lighting or the makeup, but everybody looked bad, except for Zoe and Alice!

The visual effects were great!

The soundtrack was good.
