In the future, the US Naval Air Force created a new program under the threat of terrorism. It has the most advanced experimental technology with the purpose of destroying the enemy wherever it might be in the world.

More than 400 pilots applied for the job, but only 3 qualified for it. Our leads.

The movie opens with the 3 leads training. After, they are told their squadron is going to be joined by another jet, and one of the pilots, Henry Purcell, obsessed with prime numbers, doesn’t think it’s a good idea.

Nevertheless, they find out their new wingman is actually an uncrewed artificial intelligence jet named EDI, standing for Extreme Deep Invader. They are also given a large file about it that they need to learn.

The next day they go on a mission, testing what EDI can do and they like it.

On their way to the base, EDI is struck by lightning which causes it to become self aware.

Developing its own code of ethics, it starts attacking targets that the command realizes are from 20 year old files and scenarios to attack Russia.

I personally didn’t like the movie. It felt like it was all over the place and they didn’t know what to do with it.

The first half is boring, and has awful soundtrack which doesn’t match whatever is on the screen. It gets better in the second half, with the soundtrack too, but it’s still not good.

The fist half of the movie felt like it had filler scenes, and most of the time I didn’t know what was happening. At one point they were on holiday…why?

When it comes to the characters, lieutenant Kara Wade seems to be in love with Ben Gannon, while Ben and his other colleague, Purcell, are womanizers.

The visual effects were good and stand the test of time .

The actors were good. Wentworth Miller plays the voice of EDI.

The movie grossed a little over 79 million dollars, against a budget of 135 million dollars, being one of the biggest flops in movie history.

It received negative reviews, with a 13% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, and 35 on Metacritic; and a 39% audience score on Roten Tomatoes and a 5.3 score on Metacritic.

Cinema Score audiences graded the movie a B-.
