The movie is based on Stephen King's book of the same name,published the same year the mini series were released.

 

The inhabitants of Little Tall Island are preparing for a big storm announced on tv, which they call "the storm of the century".

As the dark clouds settle above the island, a stranger with a wolf's head's cane is walking into town, visiting an old lady he k!lls,then drinks her tea and watches her tv.

A teenager walking by,sees the woman's walking device thrown in the yard,so he goes into her house, only to find her dead with her eye poked out and the stranger telling him things only the teenager knew about himself.

He runs through the middle of the road yelling about the woman's death, and the mayor of the town decides to go check it out. He finds himself in the same situation, as the stranger starts telling him dark things only he knew about himself.

The town doesn't even have a police station or police force, they only have a constable in charge, who takes the stranger, Andre Linoge, to the improvised prison cell behind the store.

 

A series of strange events start happening, as people who seem to be under the stranger's mind control start killing themselves or others while leaving the note "give me what I want and I'll go away" behind. But he doesn't tell them what he wants.

 

As the suicides and murders take place,the storm is raging outside, destroying houses and even the lighthouse. It seems almost as if the stranger brought the storm with him,or that the storm is of his making.

 

When the stranger finally tells them what he wants, it seems he really doesn't give them a choice, as they lose either way,some more than others.

 

The actors were really good, especially Julianne Nicholson, and Debrah Farentino,who had to play sad and shocked characters,and Colm Feore gives a chilling performance.

Stephen King makes a cameo appearance in the broken tv set.

 

The visual effects were really good.

The soundtrack was Ok.
