The American tv series were created by Eric Kripke, and it’s the longest running fantasy series in US history.

The series open when Dean and Sam Winchester were kids, Sam being a few months old. One night, their mother checks on Sam, and thinking her husband checks on him, goes downstairs, only to see her husband asleep in front of the tv. She runs upstairs, and we see her husband, John, waking up, hearing her screaming.

Entering the room, he sees her on the ceiling, and she bursts into flames, burning the house down. John gives Sam to Dean to take outside, and goes back for his wife, but he can’t save her.

In present day, at Stanford University, Sam is living a normal life, being one of the best students, and having a beautiful girlfriend.

One night, his brother Dean enters his home, and tells him their father disappeared while on a hunting trip, and he needs his help to find him. Sam agrees to help him only for a few days, as he has an important job interview Monday morning.

While the brothers are talking, we find out their father has become a supernatural hunter, hunting the supernatural things people are afraid of, trying to find whatever k1lled their mother.

Dean tells Sam their father was investigating the disappearance of a few men outside Jericho. On the recorded message their father left Dean, Dean heard a woman’s voice, saying she can’t ever go home.

On the road near Jericho, a man who’s talking on the phone with his girlfriend, gets bad reception, and then sees a woman in white, glitching, by the side of the road. And decides to give her a ride. She asks him to take her home, and he can’t wait to do it.

Dean and his father are running credit cards scams to be able to pay for food and the cheap hotels they stay at, and have fake FBI credentials they show to police officers or people, in order to get information out of them.

Talking to the girlfriend of the missing man and her friend, the friend tells the brothers about a legend of a woman who stays by the side of the road, and if she gets picked up, the men are never seen again.

They look it up on the internet, and find out about a woman who threw herself off a bridge, after her kids drowned in the bath tub.

Getting a motel room in town, and giving the clerk the credit card, the man tells Dean his father bought a hotel room for the whole month. The brothers look though his things, and realize he was investigating the Woman in White too, before disappearing, while using things to keep something from coming into the room.

I liked how the episode was filmed, the angles.

Dean listens to classic rock music, wears his father’s leather jacket after he finds it in his motel room, and drives his 1967 Chevrolet Impala.

The soundtrack was good.

The acting was good.

In episode 2, Sam has nightmares about Jessica’s death.

While on their father’s tracks, they investigate a creature hunting the Blackwater Ridge.

Sam is worried they waste their time investigating the paranormal while they could be looking for their father full time.

In episode 3, at Lake Manitoc, Wisconsin, young people are disappearing, and the brothers find out they are all related.

Sam is still nagging Dean about how they should just look for their father, instead of going to places where mysterious events take place. Dean says all these places were in their father’s journal, and it’s leading to him.

In episode 4, a man who is afraid of flying gets possessed, and while on the flight, 40 minutes in, he opens the plane door, causing the plane to crash.

Dean is called by a man who was helped by his father, and who worked on the plane which fell. He plays them the cockpit voice recorder and they hear a voice saying “ No survivors”, but there were 7 survivors.

The man tells them one of the pilots who survived is afraid of flying, and thinks it was all his fault.

Speaking of which, the pilot is trying to fly again, and being afraid of flying, he gets possessed, and 40 minutes in, he crashes the plane.

The brothers realize whatever possessed these people, is going after the survivors now, trying to k1ll them, as it wanted no survivors.

In episode 5, the brothers investigate a series of deaths in which people died mysteriously after them or someone close to them said “Bloody Mary” in front of the mirror 3 times.

Trying to help a girl who’s got the Bloody Mary ghost after her, Sam decides to recite the summoning, as he thinks she will come after him, as he feels guilty for Jessica’s death, as he dreamt about it days before it happened.

In episode 6 one of Sam’s friends at Stanford sends him a mail about how her brother was arrested for torturing and k1lling his girlfriend, but his sister says he’s been with her the whole night, and he found her d3ad, and tied to the chair when he got home.

The brothers go see her and investigate, and while they do so, we see the shapeshifter already choosing his next victims.

The brothers might have more on their plate than the usual, as the shapeshifter takes Dean’s appearance, after he k1lls another woman, framing the husband.

In episode 7, a reverend’s daughter is haunted by the Hook Man, k1lling her boyfriend, her roommate, and going even after her father.

Episode 8 – The brothers travel to Oasis Plains, Oklahoma, where it seems insects are k1lling people. Looking into it, they find out the land is cursed.

Episode 9 – Lawrence, Kansas. The house which once belonged to the Winchester family has a new owner, after it was rebuilt. A mother with her two children. The little girl says there’s something in her closet, but her mother thinks she’s just scared of the dark, although she hears scratches around the house, but thinks it’s rats.

Sam has a dream about it, and asks Dean to travel back home. They also find the psychic their father went to, after their mother was k1lled and the house burnt down.

Episode 10 – Rockford, Illinois. Roosevelt Asylum has the reputation of being hunted. One night, after patrolling the area, and finding teenagers inside, a local police officer, goes home, looking not like himself, and sho0ts his wife, then himself.

Sam wants to find his father, and is worried about him not being in Kansas when they were there. SPOILER He was, he was hiding from them.

Dean receives a text message with coordinates to Rockford. After getting information on the cop, they go to the asylum, where a teenager decided to take his girlfriend on a date. Although they think it’s the patients who rioted who are the ones possessing and k1lling people, they find out it might be the other way around.

Episode 11 – Burkitsville, Indiana. The people there are offering a feast to a couple passing through, “fixing” their car to stop right in front of their orchard every year, so their scarecrow could eat them and give them good crops.

The brothers’ father calls Dean, and Sam answers, asking him to tell them where he is, so they could meet him, but he tells him it’s bigger than what they thought, something big is about to happen, and the thing that k1lled their mother and Jessica, is a demon, and that’s what he’s after.

Because Dean follows his father’s orders to go to Burkitsville, Sam decides to go to California, as the payphone his father used had the Sacramento area code, and hitchhiking, he meets a girl who might not be who she says she is.

Dean goes alone to Burkitsville, and sees a couple who is being pampered and fattened, while waiting for their car which only needed gas, to have the breaks fixed, just like the couple at the beginning of the episode.

Episode 12 – Dean gets electrocuted on a job when he electrocutes a rawhead. At the hospital the doctor tells Sam Dean only has one month to live, as the shock triggered a heart attack.

Obviously, Sam doesn’t want to let Dean die, so he finds a preacher who heals people.

Although skeptic, Dean goes along with it, and the preacher chooses him out of the crowd to heal, just that he said he saw an old man when he was healed, and it didn’t feel right, it felt cold. So they start investigating the preacher and his wife.

Episode 13 – Dean is called by his ex girlfriend, Cassie, who’s father was k1lled in a car crash, as a big ghost truck bumped into his car until it threw it off the road.

As they work on the case, a few more men die in the same way Cassie’s father’s died, and Dean gets with Cassie again.

I didn’t like the acting in this one, from the actress playing Cassie, who’s father just died, but she was talking about him as if he was a stranger, without any emotion.

I also though the s3x scene was bad, and the episode would have worked just fine without it.

Episode 14 – Sam has a vision about a man dying in a certain way, and asks Dean to go to Michigan, as he saw his car plate in the dream. When they get there, the man already died the exact same way he dreamt about, and the police think he k1lled himself.

They pose as priests at the funeral, thinking it was a poltergeist, but nothing comes up on their scanner.

Soon after, Sam has another vision about the man’s brother who dies in a freak accident.

Trying to stop it from happening, the man dies in the exact same way.

Investigating, Sam finds out he is connected to the man’s son, Max, who’s mother also died in a fire, pinned on the ceiling, the man blaming his kid for her death.

The episode had great visual effects, and the actor who played Max was amazing!

Episode 15 – The brothers are working a case about a man who was taken one night by something making a whirring sound. One night, going back to their car alone, Sam is taken too.

Dean goes to the police filling a missing person report, and he ends up working with the local sheriff. Their research lead them to people who hunt men for fun.

Episode 16 – The brothers are in Chicago, Illinois, and Sam meets Meg, again, in the bar they are at. He doesn’t think this is a coincidence, and he starts doing research on her. Following her around, he sees her doing a ritual, calling and controlling shadow demons.

They find out too late, that she is after them and mostly their father, to k1ll him.

Episode 17 – Teenagers are daring each other to enter a haunted house in Richardson, Texas, where a man went mad during the depression, and k1lled his 6 daughters by hanging, then himself.

The brothers think this is an easy ghost busting gig, but as the story posted on a ghost busters blog keeps changing, so does the ghost, which makes it hard to k1ll.

Sam realizes one of the symbols on the walls of the house is a Tulpa, a symbol which, if enough people look at it thinking of a certain thing, it brings that thing into being, meaning, whatever they think about the ghost, that’s what the ghost becomes.

Episode 18 – Fitchburg, Wisconsin. The brothers investigate a mysterious illness which plagues the city, targeting children, starting with one child of the family, going through each child every night, until they are all in a coma in the hospital. The doctors thinks it’s pneumonia.

Looking through the house of the last victim, Sam finds a rotten mark of a claw on the window pane.

Dean remembers when he was a child, and his father hunted the same entity, a Shtriga, who eventually came for Sam.

Episode 19 – The brothers investigate a murder in upstate New York which seems connected to other older murders from 1912, 1945 and 1970. Since everything was locked, and there was no sign of force entry, the brothers think it was a cursed or haunted object, so they go to an auction, as the whole house was empty, everything having been sold.

They find out a creepy painting was bought by every family right before they were murdered. Looking into it, Sam finds out the father k1lled his whole family, then himself, but what if it’s not so?

Sam also goes on a date with the daughter of the auction house owner, and she ends up helping them or being in the way of solving the case. It personally bores me when they go on dates and so on, having to hear about a random character’s interests who only appears once in a 15 seasons show. My point is, it doesn’t matter, as it doesn’t go anywhere, so why bother with these filler scenes?

Episode 20 – In Manning, Colorado, an old hunter sees a pack of vampires who follow him home and k1ll him.

Reading about an Elkin dying in the newspaper, Dean thinks it might be one of his father’s friends, and they go check it out. Looking around through his place, they find a message written in blood, which leads them to a mail box, where they find a letter addressed to their father.

Speaking of whom, their father finds them, and tells them the man left him his gun which can k1ll anything, destroy them not send them to hell, and what they are hunting now are vampires.

Episode 21 – Sam has a vision about a woman in Salvation, who dies in the same way as their mother did.

Meg makes a comeback, k1lling their father’s friends, trying to catch them. She calls them, and John, their father, goes to meet her, and give her the Colt, the gun which can destroy any entity.

The brothers stay in Salvation, trying to save the woman who Sam thinks is targeted by the yellow eyed demon.

Episode 22 – After helping and rescuing the woman in Salvation, and her daughter, the brothers decide to help their father who was captured by the demons.

They go to one of their hunter friends, Bob Singer, and Meg traces them there. Exactly like they planned. As they trap her with a sigil. They get all the information they can from her, and exorcise her, but the girl she was possessing doesn’t survive, as she fell from the 7th floor in an earlier episode. They do find out where they keep their father, and they go after him.

I personally enjoyed the series, this was one of my favorite tv series at the time it was released, if not my all time favorite. I love Dean and Sam, even their father, the love they have for each other, the fact that they’d do anything for each other, including selling their soul to rescue the other.

At the time the series started, my favorite seasons were the first 3, after the 4th one, as the brothers kept on dying, ending up in hell and coming back, they lost me, as it became repetitive, and I felt no fear for their safety, as I knew they were coming back. I watched until the first episode of season 8, and in it, Dean was dead, and in hell, again, which looked like a Canadian forest. They did the same with other characters, like Castiel, a character I hated, SPOILER for in season 6 -7 he plays God, becoming homicidal, but he’s forgiven somehow, for k1lling the angels who didn’t want to follow him, and releasing the leviathan trapped in purgatory on earth, for I guess, the fans liked the character or actor.

The 1st season was filmed on a cool brown, probably used to suggest isolation ( that the brothers were in or felt) and the decay of the things they were hunting / the world they were in.

The actors were good.

The visual effects were great in every episode.

The soundtrack was good. It is paired with classic rock music, that Dean and his father liked.

McG (the director of the two Charlie’s Angels movies released in 2000 and 2003 ) was the executive producer of the series for 7 seasons.

Although the action of the movie is supposed to take place in the USA, the series were filmed entirely in Vancouver, Canada.

Supernatural holds the record for the longest running fantasy series in US tv history.

The series received 9 People’s Choice Awards, and was nominated for 3 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Rating : It’s so money !
