Season 2, 22 episodes

Created by Eric Kripke, using the “monster of the week” formula, Supernatural is the longest running fantasy series in US history.

Episode 1 – After being hit by a truck driven by a demon, at the end of season 1, Dean and his father, John, are in the hospital, Dean being seriously injured, the doctors giving him a small chance of survival.

Sam is trying to find a way to bring him back, and so does his father, who asks Sam to ask their friend, Bob Singer, to bring him certain items with which he can summon a demon.

Dean is a spirit, walking the hospital corridors, trying to wake up, or trying to make his family see him. He sees a reaper taking people and trying to take him, and when Sam comes with a Ouija board, Dean is able to talk to Sam.

Dean sees a woman who also seems to be a spirit like him, but what if there’s more to it than meets the eye?

This episode reminded me why I loved Supernatural so much, as it was one of the best ever, the season started with a Bang!

The acting was good.

The soundtrack was good.

The visual effects and make-up (the characters were badly wounded) was good.

Episode 2 – After they burnt their father’s body, Dean started working on his car which was destroyed in the crash.

Sam wants to go after the yellow eyed demon, as he thinks it’s behind their father’s death. Dean says they don’t know where to find it, so all he can do is work on his car. He also found a message from Ellen on their father’s phone, and they go see her.

Ellen owns a roadhouse where the hunters stop along their long ride. She also has a daughter, and they both can take care of themselves just fine. They have a friend who used to work in IT, who is helping the brothers track the yellow eyed demon, as there are signs and omens before he makes an appearance.

Sam sees a folder with a case for a hunter, on Ellen’s bar, and asks if he could work the case. It’s about a clown who enters people’s homes, helped by the kids, k1lling the parents.

Sam is afraid of clowns, but still works the case with Dean, joining The Cooper Carnival, as it seems it was in the towns these kind of crimes took place.

Episode 3 – The brothers go to Red Lodge where there’s been a series of crimes involving decapitation and cows drained of blood.

They pose as journalists to find more information from the local sheriff, and then as doctors at the hospital, to check the body. And they find out it was a vampire.

Asking about the case at the local bar, they catch the attention of another hunter who likes to work alone, and about whom Ellen tells Sam to stay away from, as he’s bad news.

They do help him, as he was about to be k1lled by a vampire, and Dean becomes good friends with him.

While they talk, Sam is being kidnapped by the vampires, and taken to their secret location, asking him to leave them be, as they don’t hunt people, they’re the ones bleeding the cows dry.

Sam shares this with Dean, but he thinks like their new friend, that all vampires must be k1lled.

Supernatural has good visual effects, makeup and prosthetics. I liked how in these series the vampires have another set of retractable teeth, instead of their canines growing longer.

Episode 4 – Sam wants to visit their mother’s grave, but Dean is against it, as he says there’s no body buried there, as there was nothing left to be buried after the fire, and the headstone was put by their uncle (which makes meaningless the fact Sam buried his father’s dog tags there, since she’s not there!).

Dean notices a dead tree at the cemetery, among other things, like a circle of dead grass and dead flowers, surrounding the grave of Angela Mason. Sam thinks Dean is delusional, as he doesn’t want to deal with their parents’ deaths.

They talk to Angela’s father, posing as her friends, and Dean notices an occult Greek book about bringing the dead back to life, in his office.

Angela’s boyfriend, and the reason she’s dead, because she was crying while driving the car, talking to him on the phone, because he cheated on her, is watching videos of her, and she makes an appearance, k1lling him.

Episode 5 - Sam has a vision of a man who receives a phone call telling him what to do, and he goes into a gun store, sho0ting the owner then himself.

They go to Ash, who lives with Ellen and her daughter at the bar/diner, and ask him to look up the logo he saw in his vision, on a bus. They find out it’s in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and that a man living there had the same thing happening to his mother, being burnt on the ceiling of his nursery.

The brothers go to a restaurant, and have the luck to meet the man’s friends, who tell them where to find him.

Andy seems to always get what he wants, and once Dean is following him around, he gets out of the car, asking Dean to give him the Impala, and he does! So he has the power to make people do what he wants.

Sam sees the man in his vision, and follows him to the gun shop, sounding the fire alarm. Because he did, and stopped him from going in, he receives another call, which makes him walk in front of a bus .

Sam wonders if he’s meant to be evil too, as they are all connected to the demon, and so far, except for him, they have all been evil.

Dean doesn’t think Andrew is their man, as he left his Impala intact, with the keys in the ignition for him to find.

Andy notices they follow him, and when using their powers on them, they don’t work on Sam, because he is like him (one of the kids chosen by the demon).

Sam has another vision, of a woman at a gas station, receiving a call, right when he’s talking to Andy, and it happens right then, and they realize it’s not him.

Episode 6 – Jo is fighting with her mother, Ellen, because she wants to be a hunter, and she won’t allow it. Jo tells the brothers about a girl being kidnapped from her Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, apartment. She tells them over the years, other 6 girls have vanished, all young blonde women, like her. She shows them the file, and Ellen tells the brothers they can have the case.

Checking out the apartment in Philadelphia, the brothers see Jo coming with the landlord. She pretends she’s with Dean, and rents the place. Dean doesn’t like the fact she’s there, and lying to her mother, on top of everything. Ellen calls them to check on Jo, and Jo asks Dean to lie for her, she’s not there.

Doing research, they find out before the place being converted into an apartment building, it used to be a field where the criminals used to be k1lled, as right across the street is the prison.

When Jo is taken too, they find out they are dealing with the first serial k1ller in history.

I personally never liked Jo, and watching this episode I remembered why. She seems a spoiled brat, comes off as entitled, full of herself, and she is annoying. After she chased the brothers to Philadelphia, she flips it on them when she’s finally home (after they rescue her), because her mother thinks their father had something to do with her husband’s (who was a hunter too) death.

Dean is trying to protect her the whole time, telling her to go back home, as this job is not for her, and then somehow, he and Sam are considered to blame for this stupid girl’s antics.

Episode 7 - Dean is caught by the police in Baltimore, Maryland, as he and Sam are working the case of a man who’s neck was slit after he saw a woman with a slit throat the night before.

The police think he’s a k1ller, for he has a record after the shape shifter took his identity, and he also has some other charges like grave robber. They also take Sam in, but he’s not charged with anything, they just want him to testify against him.

The police think Dean k1lled the man’s wife too, for she called 911 terrified, saying someone was in the house. When the police got there, they caught Dean.

One of the detectives assigned to the case starts seeing Dana Schulps written everywhere and the dead woman, just like the previous victims, which means she is about to die.

Dean figures out that it’s an anagram, and with the help of his lawyer, he sends the message to his brother that it might be a place, Ashland.

The brothers figure out that maybe it’s not the ghost doing the k1llings, maybe she’s a death omen.

Episode 8 - Sam finds an article about an architect who fell from the top of the building he designed, in Greenwood, Mississippi, after he complained about vicious big black dogs coming after him.

They pose as journalists for Architectural Digest, and interview the man’s business partner who said found it odd the man used to be a bartender who couldn’t design a pup tent, and then became a genius in the field.

Looking into the calls for animal control, they end up at the house of a doctor, and talking to the maid, they find out she left 2 days prior, nobody knows where, and that she was the chief surgeon at her hospital, a position she got 10 years prior, when she was about 32 years old, making her the youngest chief surgeon in history.

The brothers realize what these people have in common is, their luck lasts for 10 years after which they complain about a big black dog coming after them and die.

Looking into it deeper, they find yarrow flowers at Lloyd’s Bar and a box with specific items buried at the cross roads right next to it,all of them used for summoning rituals. They find out those people made a pact with a crossroads demon, and it was time to collect.

My thoughts on what’s happening in this episode are that in this case they shouldn’t have helped anyone, as those people knew what they were doing, knew what they were getting themselves into, and a deal is a deal, it’s the equivalent of buying something you have to pay for after 10 years, and when time comes you don’t pay for it, after you got all you wanted. Do you think it’s fair? It’s like stealing and getting away with it.

So, due to this, what they were doing made no sense, and it just annoyed me.

It was the only episode in which I didn’t like the soundtrack / music, as I don’t like blues, I guess.

Episode 9 - Sam has a vision about Dean sho0ting a man, saying that something is in him. He sees the name of the town, Rivergrove, in Oregon, so they head that way.

Once they get there, they see the word Croatoan written on a pole, and Sam recognizes a man from his vision, and asks him about the man Dean sh0t in his vision.

When getting to his place, his brother opens the door saying he’s not home, and something he and his father say about the mother, make them check the house, and find them cutting her, while having her tied to a chair, and bleeding on her. They rescue her, and take her to the hospital.

All the phone lines are down, and the police radio, so Dean is trying to get out of town but he can’t as men with guns (one of them being the son they talked to earlier, who was cutting his mother) say it’s quarantined.

Checking the blood she took from the man Dean k1lled, the doctor says it looks like the man was fighting a viral infection, his blood having a weird residue, which looks like sulfur.

The brothers realize Sam had the vision because it’s a demon viral infection.

Episode 10 - A man who is seeing a psychiatrist tells him he has the ability to electrocute anything if he wants to, when he touches it. After the session he is stabb3d when getting to his car.

Dean tells Sam their father told him to take care of him, save him or k1ll him if he can’t do the first 2 things, right before dying. So, Sam gets upset Dean didn’t tell him about it, and leaves.

A woman has a nightmare about Sam entering an abandoned house, tripping on a wire, and dying in an explosion.

She goes looking for him, and telling him about it, Sam finds out he is one of the kids with abilities developed in the last year who are connected to the yellow eyed demon. Previous to this, Sam asked Ash to find kids who’s parents died in house fires on their 6th month anniversary, but they are all the ones they already know about or dead.

Ellen calls Dean and tells him where Sam is. Good thing she does, because Gordon Walker, the hunter Dean was buddies with in episode 3, is back, and wants to k1ll Sam, as he heard Sam is supposed to be evil.

I liked the way the actor, Sterling K. Brown, who plays Gordon, played.

Episode 11 - Unable to find Ava, although they’ve been looking for her for a month, Sam gets a new case from Ellen.

The moment they get to the hotel (a beautiful house), they see it has Hoodoo symbols everywhere, to keep the enemies out.

Looking into it, Sam says 2 people died, a realtor, as the owner wants to sell the place, and a man who came to take some of the dolls.

They start checking the place, trying to find out who doesn’t want to leave the place. And start suspecting the old lady who’s had a stroke and can’t move. Her daughter tells them that that is when the bad things started happening.

Maybe the old lady was the one protecting the place, keeping the ghost out.

The little girl has an invisible friend, Maggie, who is up to no good.

Episode 12 - The brothers are in Milwaukee, where they interview the employees of a jewelry store who talk about one of their colleagues they have known for years, who robbed them and then went home and k1lled herself.

Sam tells Dean this is not a first, as there’s also been some bank robberies with the same ammo, a long time employee, who’d never do such a thing, who does it, then k1lls themselves.

The brothers visit Ronald Reznick who seems to have a lot of information about the bank robberies. Ronald doesn’t think the bank employee did it, he thinks it was a robot who could make itself look like him. To prove his case, he shows them a tape in which the creature’s eyes are glowing.

The brothers understand they are dealing with another shape shifter, and Sam tells Ronald he’s crazy, not in the same words, and Ronald throws them out.

While the brothers are checking the video footage at the bank they think the shape shifter is going to hit next, to see if they can see its glowing eyes, to know who does it pose as, Ronald is coming into the bank with a r1fle, shutting the doors, trying to find the “robot” while the outside world sees it as a bank robbery.

Episode 13 - Sam interviews a woman in the mental institution who stabb3d a man in the heart after an angel appeared to her telling her to do it.

The angel appears to a drunk, who, again, after he sees the sign from the angel, stabs a man.

Sam wonders if it’s really an angel, while Dean doesn’t think angels exist, for they would have seen one by now.

The “angel” appears to Sam too, when they investigate the church these people were going to, and find out one of the priests there was k1lled right on its steps.

I didn’t like the soundtrack of this episode.

Episode 14 – Dean is looking for Sam who’s been missing for a week.

Sam finally calls him, telling him he doesn’t remember anything he’s been doing the past week, being covered in blood.

Investigating, the two find out he k1lled a hunter like them.

Soon, Dean realizes Sam is possessed.

Episode 15 - The brothers are at each others’ throat, working on cases which don’t seem to have anything in common, as they investigate a professor who fell from his office window, and students talk about the ghost of a student who had an affair with her teacher, while another student says he’s been abducted by aliens who made him slow dance.

Dean calls Bob Singer who listens to their stories, and figures out they are dealing with a trickster.

This was a funny episode, as the brothers, hating each other (because Sam thinks Dean took his computer, while Dean thinks Sam messed with his car’s tires), recount how things were, seeing the other as very emotional (Dean on Sam) or stuffing his face whenever he gets the chance (Sam on Dean).

Episode 16 - The episode opens with a couple who get into a car accident, as the wife who’s driving, sees a man in the middle of the street and tries to avoid him, hitting a tree. When she wakes up, her husband is gone, and she finds the man on the road in his cabin, but he’s a ghost.

The woman runs on the road, and stops the car of Dean and Sam, asking for their help.

Sam offers to take her to town, but she doesn’t want to, as she’s looking for her husband who went missing.

The brothers convince her to go with them, and she accepts when she can’t find the car.

Trying to drive away, the ghost of the man haunting her appears, and although they try to drive through it, it makes their car stop.

Sam tells the woman, Molly, the man haunting her was k1lled 15 years before on that road, and every year, on the night of the anniversary of his death, he haunts the road, hurting a woman, and they are there to stop him .

This was one of the best Supernatural episodes. I loved how it’s filmed from Molly’s point of view, and the reveal at the end.

I loved how Tricia Helfer acted.

Episode 17 - The brothers are in San Francisco, California, where some women have disappeared in the week leading up to the full moon, and when their bodies were found, they were found without a heart. Dean is excited about it, as they think they’re looking for a werewolf.

They talk to the woman who found the body, Madison, and after, it seems more people around her die. Sam stays with her to see if she’s changing, but Dean catches her at her ex boyfriend’s place.

I didn’t like Madison, I don’t find her attractive. I didn’t like the acting from Emmanuelle Vaugier.

The s3x scene was bad. It seems that’s a thing in Supernatural. I didn’t like her showing Sam her underwear collection, it lowers Supernatural’s class. I also don’t appreciate it when they have “one night stands” as it doesn’t make the characters better in my eyes, it just lowers their value.

I didn’t like the acting from Jared Padalecki either, as it got worse in this season.

Episode 18 - The brothers are in Los Angeles, and are investigating ghost sightings on a horror movie set.

Investigating the death of a crew guy, they find out it was all fake, to create buzz around the movie.

Working around set as PAs, the brothers realize the set really is haunted, as the script has real Latin spells. They also find out the original script writer might be bitter for they cut out 90% and another 10% of his script.

The ghosts of old movie stars who died on set do show up, and k1ll producers.

The actress playing the actress can’t scream.

Once again, Dean gets it on with the actress, who’s his favorite actress, like I said, this only lowers the value of the series and of the character.

When the brothers get to the movie set, they visit it with the tourists, and they mention the set of the series “The Gilmore Girls” that Jared Padalecki played in before Supernatural.

They also mention in L.A. is cold like in Canada, which I think is a nod to the fact most American tv series are filmed in Vancouver, Canada, including Supernatural.

Episode 19 - Being asked by one of their father’s friends to help him with a ghost which is k1lling the inmates in his prison, since an old prison wing was reopened, Dean has the amazing idea of staging a break-in at a jewelry store, to get arrested, and be sent to the said prison.

In prison, they think the ghost is a serial k1ller, but Dean realizes when in solitary confinement that it’s not the man, but a woman.

Dean asks around, and finds things about a nurse. He asks his lawyer to trust him, and find him information about her, and most importantly where was she buried.

Episode 20 – The brothers are hunting a Jinn, and although Sam wants to go with Dean, Dean thinks he can handle it, and goes alone. The Jinn catches him and grants him his biggest wish, for his mother to be alive. But it comes at a cost. His life.

Episode 21 - Dean sends Sam to get dinner, and while he’s inside the diner, there’s static on the radio which makes him think something’s happening. When he goes inside, he finds everybody in the diner dead, and Sam missing.

Sam wakes up in what he recognizes to be the most haunted town in the world. He finds the psychic who can make people do what he wants,Andy, Ava (who is the only one who says has been there for 6 moths while the others say they experienced what Sam did SPOILERS the reveal at the end explains why her acting is so bad END OF SPOILERS), another man, Jake, who says is a soldier and has superman’s power, and another girl, Lily, who is like Rogue from X-Men. They seem to be hunted by a demon, while they are told in dreams by the Yellow Eyed Demon they can’t leave the town for only one of them must remain.

Andy says he can now send people images, and sends Dean images of the town’s bell.

Dean works with Bob Singer, and went to the Road House to talk to Ash who didn’t want to tell him what’s going on on the phone. When they get there the place was burnt down.

When he gets the images Andy sends him, Bob recognizes the bell and they head its way.

Episode 22 - Dean can’t deal with Sam’s death, and goes to the crossroads, to make a deal with the Crossroads Demon. He convinces her to bring Sam back while he gets to live for one year without trying to get out of the deal for the deal will be off, then go to hell.

The Yellow Eyed Demon is blackmailing Jake with k1lling his family unless he does what he wants him to, to go to Southern Wyoming.

Dean and Sam got to Bobby’s place, who tells them about demonic signs everywhere except for in Southern Wyoming.

Ellen comes to Bob’s place, with a map with X’s pointing to churches built by Samuel Colt who made the Colt gun. Colt built private railway lines connecting the churches in a pentagram, called The Devil’s trap, making it impossible for demons to cross.

Dean thinks maybe it’s not about keeping the demons out, but keeping something in, in the cowboy cemetery right in the middle of the pentagram.

The Yellow Eyed Demon asks Jake to go to the cemetery and open a crypt with the Colt.

I personally enjoyed the season, the episodes are one better than the other. Some of them are pure gold.

The acting was good from everyone involved, although I noticed Jared Padalecki is not as good as in the first season.

The soundtrack was good, especially in the last episodes.

The visual effects were great.

Movie director and producer McG, not only produced this second season (he produced the first 8 seasons of the series though his production company Wonderland Sound and Vision), but also made a cameo appearance in the 18th “Hollywood Babylon” episode, while an actor plays a fake McG.

The season also had an actress who plays the reverend’s daughter’s roommate in season one episode 7 “Hook man”, appear as the Crossroads Demon in episode 8 “Crossroads Blues”.

Episode 7 of this season had as guest actors actor Jason Gedrick (one of my favorites growing up, he was just as beautiful as I remembered. Looking at him and Dean, I didn’t know who was more of a beauty), and actress Linda Blair, who played in the famous movie The Exorcist (1973), when she was a child.

Ellen Harvelle and Bob Singer are season regular characters.

Rating : It’s so money !
