A deep space rescue and recovery spaceship with 6 crew members receives a distress call from a mining operation from thousands of light years away, send by Karl Larson.

The newest member of the ship ,Nick, a recovering Hazen addict, forms a bond with Kaela, the doctor on board, although she said she doesn't like recovering Hazen addicts,as she doesn't like what the drug does to people.

The distress call comes from a person from Kaela's past( the Hazen addict she mentioned to Nick), and being an important name, the superior decides to jump in time, although, this jump is not without serious side effects.

So,the lives of 6 people is worth one rescued.

Once on board of the ship, Kaela realizes the man who calls himself Karl Larson is not really Karl. O r is he?

Also, he brings with him a weird alien object which one of the crew members, Yerzy, gets very attached to.

The first hour of the movie sets the scene, and the last half an hour is action packed, and really kept me on the edge of my seat.

The movie was good, it had the crew with its problems, like for example, Robin Tunney's character wants a child, but is not sure about who to have it with, although her partner,Yerzy, received a certificate for procreation when she didn't. Benjamin and the AI on board,Sweetie, had a weird love relationship..

The visual effects were really good for 1999.

The acting was fine, James Spader's character is sad, haunted, pensive. Also, he kinda looks like Jensen Ackles to me.

The women have these ugly man haircuts.

This was one of my favorite movies 20 years ago. That being said, I don't remember it having nudity. Robin Tunney is naked most of the time. Her character only thinks of s3x.

Viewer discretion is advised as the movie has a lot of nudity and s3x scenes.
