In 1983,Canada, an awkward teenager meets another teenager on a bus,and they befriend. They decide to rent a car,and while driving, the tire explodes. While one of them is trying to change the wheel, the awkward one pushes him in front of the incoming van, killing him and the ones in the van.
He then assumes his identity.
20 years later, FBI profiler Ileana Scott is asked by Montreal inspector to help with the case of a serial killer who assumes his victims' identity, after they find the body of a man buried at a construction site.
At the same time, the mother of the serial killer contacts the police, telling them she saw her son who is supposedly dead for 19 years, and whom she considers to be very dangerous.
The police interview art dealer James Acosta who apparently interrupted the serial killer as he was trying to cut his next victim so they won't be identified. As they try to catch the killer, they ask Acosta to help them with the case,as he was the only one to ever see the killer.
Ileana starts having feelings for Acosta.
