Investment banker Laurel Ayres is very good at her job,but she's not taken seriously because she's a woman. Her colleague is stealing her ideas, and is promoted to VP. Hearing this, and the fact she'll never make it to VP due to the fact she's a woman,Laurel quits her job.
She starts her own company, and realizing no man takes her seriously, refusing to work with her, because she's a woman, she creates a white man as her partner.
Seeing a bartender pouring someone a drink of Cutty, she comes up with the name Robert Cutty, and creates the man's biography.
Her colleague's secretary, caught in a dead end job,Sally Dugan, wants to work with her,and although at first refuses, Laurel hires her. This does wonders to Laurel's unorganized boxes of papers,as Sally organizes them in the computer.
Due to the fact she can only make men listen to her,and work with her, as long as she brings up Cutty, Laurel says Cutty doesn't like to be seen in public.
As these people insist on seeing him,she creates a white man, looking a lot like Marlon Brando,to get them off her back. The scene reminded me of Michael Jackson's Moonwalker movie, the long scene in which he is chased by the reporters and fans, the moment he escapes one he is chased by another!
The movie was good, the actors were all great,I loved Dianne Wiest. Tim Daly was one of my favorite actors growing up. Trump makes an appearance, he was in a lot of movies at the time, this is the second with Whoopy he's in!
The movie wasn't funny until the one hour mark.
I hated the soundtrack,it was one of those movies which had songs written to describe what was happening in a scene, and they were awful! Also,I thought the music didn't match the scene, and whatever was on the screen!
The movie received negative reviews, and made 12.8 million dollars at the box office.
The movie is for free on Hoopla, for rent / sale on Amazon, AppleTv, Fandango at Home.
Rating : Worth a watch !
