Gina is a radiologist who,one day,sees herself drive by on the street. At the same time,mirrors keep on breaking all around the city, like a sort of pandemic. Soon, people who were warm and nice,change their attitude,being cold and robot-like.

 

Gina starts suspecting her boyfriend is not her boyfriend,but the doctors tell her it might be the result of her being in the car accident which could have damaged her perception of reality.

 

The reason I brought up her being a radiologist is because people with a rare condition, dextrocardia, having the heart on the right side of the body, like in a mirror,keep on popping up.

 

This is one of my favorite movies.The movie was silent,built like a drama, with long patches of silence. When the music finally pitches in, is beautiful and sad.

 

This movie is a masterpiece,I loved the directing and cinematography, the soundtrack which was barely noticeable and builds, the long moments of silence which make you feel you belong to that world and you feel what the character is going through.

I liked how certain scenes were played over and over as if we're seeing through the lead's eyes and read her thoughts,as if we're in her head,when she talks to someone or thinks of something. As if we see her memories,we see what she thinks of.

 

I love the twist and reveal at the end,and the lead's reaction to it,the fact that she still wasn't sure about it,she had to test it.

I love that she lost herself in the one she had to impersonate,the fact that she wasn't like the others coming from the mirror,she had to fake being like her breed.

 

I even liked the places the movie was filmed in,the interior of the old buildings with beautiful railings and stained glass windows.

 

All the actors gave great performances,especially Lena Headey.

 

The visual effects still stand the test of time.
