Matthew was just released from the mental institution after he had a mental breakdown following his younger brother's disappearance. His father is dealing with the mourning in his own way,drinking too much.

Once home,he starts going through the tapes his father recorded from the news where he appeared ,pleading to whoever took the kid to release him. Upon watching this,he keeps on hearing his brother's voice,saying his name.

Matthew starts believing he can hear and see his brother,and his father and best friend,played by Tom Felton,think him crazy. Only a girl he befriended after he got out of the mental institution believes him and tries to help him.

I liked this movie,the suspense is well built,the actors are all great,especially the lead,he is sad,scared ,alone,he feels responsible for his brother's disappearance because he was the one letting him go to the playground while he was partying for his birthday with his friends.

SPOILER - the villain seems to be an evil entity who feeds of the fear of children. I didn't quite get why he couldn't be killed,he took the identity of the real vicar,whom he killed. They had this supernatural element there at the end which they didn't fully explored,in my opinion.
