Adam is a student at a Christian high school, who also has a band he is trying to get signed with. He has this "jerk theory" that girls actually like the jerks not the good guys, so he is teaching his friends and not only, to treat girls bad, when dating them.
When it comes to the music, the producer who keeps on coming to see them play, tells them there's no depth to their music, and he wants to hear love songs. Also, I think their band doesn't have a name, as they are always introduced as Adam and his band!
Adam sees Molly, and starts using his tactics on her, but they don't work.
At the school's football game, Adam's ex girlfriend tells Molly (who just had another rude encounter with him, in which he threatened to give her number to the whole school if she doesn't go out with him) that his act it's just a facade, and he was the best boyfriend she ever had.
Adam confesses to the priest on the Monday Confession session that he has feelings for Molly, so he gives him the penance of chaperoning his little sister's class to the museum and the petting zoo.
He discovers Molly is the other chaperone, so the priest did him a favor.
They talk, and he gets a date!
They start dating, and he starts with the jerk tactics like not coming to the door to ring the bell, but waiting for her in the car, honking, and doesn't open the car door for her, or walk her to the door when he brings her home.
Adam likes her more and more, and he even brings her flowers one time, which gets him a kiss from Molly.
Molly's friend,Amy, loses her cat, and Molly tells Adam she is gonna spend the evening with her. Adam's friend, who likes Amy, goes by, giving Amy a new cat, seeing this as an opportunity to date her.
At the same time, Molly's ex (who's also the one Adam's ex left him for) comes to see her, and lies to Adam he is back with Molly, taking his flowers, lying to Molly they are from him.
I liked the movie, I used to like it more,I don't know what happened, last night it just felt generic, like all the other late '90's early 2000 movies, although it was released 10 years later.
I did like the early autumn atmosphere, with the yellow-red leaves.
One thing that bothered me was, this was a Christian school, but they didn't have a rule of conduct, like what to wear (for example, uniforms of a certain length - as the cheerleaders wear belt-like skirts, our lead wears very short skirts, and one girl was wearing a shirt which ended under her cleavage- the kind Britney Spears wears in "Baby, one more time",but more revealing) and how to behave. They even had s3x ed classes given by the priest!
Also, the parents were never home.
At the school dance, they dance without music, and Molly says "3 months birthday" when she meant anniversary.
The actors were good.
The soundtrack was good, throughout the movie they play Josh Henderson's album. It feels the music is pop disguised as rock. He has a beautiful voice.
