The Spirit is adapted from the Spirit comic created and written by Will Eisner in 1940,in tabloid size, sold with a newspaper.

The Spirit is called about a case by detective Sussman which involves his nemesis, Octopus. He puts his costume on,and on his way to the meeting with an officer,he stops two thieves from robbing a woman.

At the swamp-land jewel thief-femme fatale Sand Saref rises from the water and points the gun at detective Sussman. Octopus kills the officer who grabbed Saref's locket, and shoots at Saref who goes underwater, trying to escape with two chests. She can only get one.

Octopus has a strange fascination with the Spirit, and sends everyone home,as he wants to fight him, trying to see which one of them is stronger.

The Spirit is wounded in more ways than one, but his wounds heal.

The Spirit is dating doctor Ellen Dolan, daughter of Commissioner Eustace Dolan, who is not too pleased about them dating,as he is dating all the ladies. Seriously,he dated most of the women in this movie. And kisses them all. Thing I find unsettling.

The Spirit narrates the story, and we find out Sand was his girl, who left 15 years prior, after her father died,as she wanted diamonds.

Octopus is a mad scientist who creates hard to kill clones, and .. SPOILER ..brought the Spirit back.

Octopus discovers the chest has the Golden Fleece, being the chest Sand wanted, while she has his chest with the Blood of Heracles which makes one immortal,or a god,as Octopus puts it.

They set up a meeting to make the exchange.

The Spirit watches over the city and calls it his lover, which I find sad.

The visual effects were great, in the Sin City style. There's an underwater scene which was so obvious it wasn't shot underwater, which took me out of the movie, and lost my interest since.

The acting was bad from everyone but Sarah Paulson(which is weird, because these are all good actors).

Gabriel Macht looked like Jensen Ackles from certain angles (to me).

The soundtrack at times was good,at times I felt it didn't match .

The Spirit is streaming on Starz, Starz Apple Tv, Starz Amazon Channel, Starz The Roku Channel, and is for rent / sale on Amazon Prime Video, Apple Tv, DirecTv, Google Play Movies, Vudu, YouTube.
