The suspect

Year of release : 1944

Run time : 1h22min

Genre : Noir / Thriller

The movie is based on James Ronald's 1939 book, 'This way out'.

Philip is a good man. He doesn't have the heart to fire the kid who works at his firm, who steals daily. At home, his wife is very nagging, always complaining about everything.

The wife's rages makes their son leave the family home, as after nagging him the whole day about fixing something, she burnt the papers he worked on for his office.

After the son leaves, the wife starts nagging at him about nothing, while Philip moves into their son's room.

A young woman, looking for a job, gets his attention, and trying to help her,he gets involved with her,as she genuinely likes him,and her loneliness matches his.

Philip tells his wife he wants a divorce, and the woman threatens to destroy the young woman's life.

The wife suddenly dies in an accident, falling down the stairs, and Philip is free to marry the woman he loves.

The police is always following them around,as they are sure Philip murdered his nagging wife.

The actors were fine, Charles Laughton is my favorite actor of the old Hollywood movies, as he was in that era, what Hollywood actors are today, very natural, his acting just flows.

The soundtrack was so and so, I find the old soundtracks loud and annoying.
