Til death do us part
Year of release : 2017
Run time : 1h41m
Genre : Thriller / Drama
Cast : Taye Diggs
Madison and Michael have the perfect marriage, Michael being pretty much perfect, always giving her perfect gifts (including the piano she wanted, although she wanted a black one,but Michael is obsessed with white, hence their whole house is white), he cooks for her, and he even offered bringing her father ,who's sick, to come live with them, but Madison doesn't want to complicate things, and put pressure on the two of them .
Madison wanted kids since she was 5, and although Michael says he doesn't want them, at least not for the moment, she is planning on having a kid, always taking pregnancy tests.
She also hates him always leaving the toilet seat up (eye roll)!
Although a nurse, Madison becomes a stay at home wife, as I guess, she tries to get pregnant, but Michael doesn't want her to (get pregnant; he does want her home all day long)!
Her friend doesn't like Michael, as she thinks he's too good to be true, and he might be hiding another face behind the one she sees. Michael gave her another gift, a heart split in two, one for her and one for him, with "Til death do us part" written on it.
Madison is in a world of her own, as she buys baby clothes (for girls) although she's not pregnant!
Michael confesses to an old friend, that he doesn't want kids, at least not for now, and when he gets home, he gets to meet an angry Madison, who found out he was taking testosterone shots so she won't get pregnant. She starts screaming at him, gaslighting him, although the man told her from the getgo, he doesn't want kids(she also says she does everything for him, which we didn't see what that is; and that she left her father for him, which again, he told her to bring him to live with them ,which she refused),she calls him selfish ,only thinking about himself(which she is, if you ask me) and he doesn't appreciate that, so he slaps her once. She was so annoying, she honestly had that coming.
After, he pulls a 180 ('cause he was nice until then), and starts getting jealous because some guy talked to her at his office party, and has rough s3x with her-she says he's too rough before he even does anything, and they cut to the next scene,so we don't know how rough it is,we're told!
Despite him not wanting kids, she does get pregnant, but that doesn't stop him from hitting her.
She also works twice a week, in the morning, in spite of Michael not wanting her to work.
She decides to leave him, and starts antagonizing him again, as he ignores her (she could have just left without telling him that she leaves him!!! The whole time I was like, Oh my God, who wrote this?! ). She drives off, and he comes after her, only to find out she was in a car crash and died!
At the hospital, a doctor tells him she died, and he's so devastated, he doesn't even want to see her dead body!!! Sure, movie (someone that obsessed and controlling would definitely do that)!
In the next scene, Madison tells us what happened, and this is how the movie should have opened!
She moves to Silicon Valley where she works as a waitress. She freaks out and drops the dishes she was taking off the tables when she hears her and Michael's song (rolling my eyes).
Her friend comes and brings her the insurance money she got off her fake death, which doesn't even make sense, as the company would make sure she's dead before they give her anything!
Anyway, she builds a new life, meets a new man who's wife died while giving birth, and all I could think was, Michael seemed perfect in the beginning too, even at the beginning of their marriage (did they marry right away?!) why would she be so trustful, and start a relationship with anyone right away?
This is why the movie should have taken place within a span of a few years!
The movie seemed to have been inspired by "Sleeping with the enemy" with Julia Roberts, because there were many similarities (like : he was obsessed with everything being clean and in order; he liked her with her hair down, when she wanted it up; he didn't like she talked to some guy at a party; she didn't work because her husband didn't want her to; Julia's character stole apples from a neighbor and when the guy caught her and said he would not tell on her if she goes out with him she drops them(in here it was the guy who steals a lot of her lemons and doesn't give them back, but they do make a dinner date); her mother was in a hospital - she visited at the same time he was there; the last scene of the movie with him playing Berlioz and rearranging everything in the house as he liked it..), just that they were in a hurry with the timeline. Everything happens within a year. I think it would have been better if a year or two passed, as she moves on, she gets the money off her insurance in the event of her death (shouldn't they search to have proof of death to give money away? ), and even dates a new man, while being pregnant! So everything happens within a few months,in the second part of the movie! It doesn't even make any sense, if you put together the time in which the insurance company would give you the money, with how far along she was, it doesn't add up!
She's pregnant, but she walks normal.
Most of the things in the movie are being told to us, not shown.
I personally hated the movie, I kept on pausing it to complain about it to my man (lol). The lead annoyed me the first half of the movie, as it was obvious Michael didn't want kids, but she was in another dimension where he did, so she was trying to get pregnant. She also annoyed me regarding her father, whom she said she loved, but didn't want to care for, although she stayed home all day long! When she fights with Michael, she gaslights him, telling him she didn't care for her father because of him! I was not on her side, because she kept on talking nonsense!
She also knew this man was volatile, but she kept on pushing his buttons, raising her voice at him, fighting him and hitting him!
The movie was so bad, she actually passed by them ,when the doctor told her husband she was dead!!!
Her friend says she's smarter than not knowing if she's followed, but how do you think Michael finds Madison? Don't worry, I'll wait! She goes to the postal office to send her stuff right after he passed by her place!!!
The same friend also says she hates her fake name, Kate, as she should have gone for something exotic, like Paris! (eye roll)
It annoyed me that to them it was a big issue her man was letting the toilet seat up, that's what really bother this annoying woman!
I did like her house, and the acting.
I hated the soundtrack which didn't match anything that was on the screen. It was one of those movies which once again, proves to the audience how important a score is! It was silent when it should have music, and plays some random song when it should have suspenseful music.
The movie grossed 3.5 million at the box office, being a flop.
