Also known as Dangerous Kiss, the movie was written and directed by Pat Verducci.

Mary is a senior in Catholic school who is fascinated with detective magazines, wanting to become a cop like her father, who died in the line of duty. When her friends and classmates go out on dates and parties, Mary stays in reading crime magazines and mystery novels. Her mind is filled with murder cases like other girls her age's minds are filled with romance.

It just happens that a serial k1ller is targeting teenagers in her town, even some in her Catholic school falling prey to it! And that is all she can talk about to her friends and family. She is always pestering her father's former partner, Jerry Guinn, who puts up with her.

This time she is at his office as she wants to know more about the last girl who was murdered,as she is the little sister of one of her classmates. He tells her being a detective or cop is dangerous, and she should stick to school.

While swimming at the pool, she notices a shady man, wandering around. She finds out from the girls he was talking to, that he is around the pool a lot.

Mary follows him to his place, and takes pictures of him with a gun.

In her spare time, Mary is imagining what happened to the girls who were k1lled, and how the k1ller approached them, the way other girls fantasize about the boys they are into.

Going home from school, one day, she notices the same man who was talking to the girls at the pool following her. She runs to her place and sees him in front of her house.

Her mother asks her to buy groceries for her, so she goes out taking the mace spray with her. Seeing the man in the store, while she is shopping, she sprays him, and she ends up at the police station,scolded by detective Guinn , as he tells her he is cadet Tony Campbell.

Tony confesses he was following her as he thought she knew more about the serial k1ller case, and detective Guinn scolds him too, as as a cadet, he's not allowed to work on the case. Having maced Tony, detective Guinn asks her to take Tony home, as he can't see well.

Talking about the case, Mary is asking Tony to partner with her in solving the case, but she's doing most of the job, and soon she starts suspecting him, although, at the same time she is falling in love with him!

I personally enjoyed the movie, but I figured out the k1ller since the movie started!

The movie is titled True Crime due to the detective magazines she reads.

The acting was good.

 

The soundtrack was so and so, at times I liked it, other times not so much.

The movie was shot a few years before it was released, before Alicia Silverstone turned 18 years old.

The movie was a straight to video release.
