The year is 1999, and Parker Barnes is testing a virtual reality system design to train police officers. Parker used to be a Los Angeles police officer who is imprisoned for k1lling a political terr0rist, Matthew Grimes, who k1lled his wife and daughter. He got 17 years to life for also sho0ting 2 news reporters in the process.

He is now used as a test subject in the virtual reality, tracking down a serial k1ller named SID (stands for “sadistic, intelligent and dangerous”, and is supposed to be a mix of all the serial k1llers in history), and he notices SID had powers he wasn’t supposed to have, and cheated them at the game,k1lling his fellow inmate in real life too.

Parker is taken back to prison, and put in with the other inmates. A racist picks on him, thinking he k1lled the other inmate in the virtual reality. He starts a fight, and loses. Parker is beaten by the guards for beating that guy, and taken to his cell.

Because the director overseeing the virtual reality project wants it terminated due to the fact the inmate died when SID disabled the fail safe, doctor Lindenmeyer informs SID he is to be shut down.

The prison are sending criminal psychologist Madison Carter to talk to Parker.

Lindenmeyer convinces one of his colleagues, Clyde, that another virtual reality character, Sheila , a sexually compliant model, can be brought to life in a synthetically grown android body. Instead of using Sheila’s module, he uses SID’s.

Clyde worked on a project with nanotechnology, regenerating the damaged android body using glass as the nanotechnology is silicone based. Clyde thinks he’s bringing to life his dream girl, Sheila, but SID comes to life, and k1lls Clyde.

When the police hears SID got out they offer Parker a pardon if he catches and k1lls SID. But, they say they’ll have to tag him in the back of his head, a device which we find out later can k1ll him if he doesn’t do as told.

SID doesn’t waste any time and starts dropping bodies left and right. It seems he also likes being famous,which could be its downfall.

I personally didn’t like the movie. I thought it was ridiculous.They make SID practically invincible. It doesn’t make any sense why would its creator want a crazy serial psycho k1ller out in society.

When they enter the virtual reality they are in chairs similar to the ones in The Matrix.

I didn’t understand why when brought into reality SID came out in something like a cocoon and it was naked, although it has clothes in the virtual reality.

The acting, except from Denzel, was bad.

The soundtrack was bad, and didn’t match anything that was on screen.

The visual effects were bad.

The movie received negative reviews, and grossed 37 million at the box office, against a budget of 30 million dollars.

Viewer discretion is advised, as the movie contains nudity, from Russell Crowe.
