The movie is a superhero movie, based on the Marvel comics X-Men, The Dark Phoenix Saga, from 1980. It's the sequel to the X-Men Apocalypse, and the 12th installment of the X-Men franchise, the 4th in the prequel series.

The movie was written, directed and produced by Simon Kinberg.

The movie opens with Jean causing an accident, k1lling her mother, in 1975. Professor X takes her in.

In 1992, the X-Men team go to space in their normal plane / shuttle, and sometimes, they can even breathe in space. They need to rescue the Apollo team of astronauts, whose shuttle they think was hit by solar flares , and Jean gets caught in this energy field which instead of k1lling her, amplifies her powers.

Professor X reveals he created mental blocks (making her forget about the car crash, k1lling her mother, and her father being alive, as he wanted nothing to do with her) in order to keep Jean stable, but now, they are deteriorating.

After an episode of this power making her unstable, Jean travels to her hometown, to see her father. She finds out her father is scared of her, wants nothing to do with her, so she leaves him be.

The X-Men come after her, but so does the police, who were probably called by her father, and Jean lashes out, k1lling Raven, her best friend!

Jean flies to the island Magneto and his team are living on, asking for his help, but the military follow her there, and after she lashes out on them, Magneto asks her to leave before she destroys the truce he made with humans and the little piece of heaven he created there for his mutants.

Vuk, the leader of an alien race, whose planet was destroyed by the force now residing in Jean, finds her, telling her how this is the force which created the universe, and can give life or take it away, creating or destroying. Vuk has hidden motives, as it wants the power inside Jean, as it wants to destroy earth as we know it, k1ll humans and create a new life for its aliens on earth.

Beast, who suffers after Jean k1lled his loved one, Raven, goes to Erik / Magneto, telling him the truth. Magneto agrees to help him find and k1ll Jean.

Beast also blames Charles for what Jean did (for making her forget her trauma), but honestly, a child with that kind of power, who has such disregard for her own parents, k1lling her mother, the alternative to what Charles did, would have been to k1ll her!

I personally didn't like the script / story, but the movie was entertaining,it did not bore me,which is what matters. The explanation of what happens in this movie, which clashes and erases what happens in the 3 original movies, is that the movie 'X-Men : Days of future past' (2014) erased what happened in the original 'X-Men : The last stand' (2006),but it also erases what happened in the first 2 movies .

The movie grossed a little over 252 million dollars world wide, against a 200 million dollars budget, with Deadline Hollywood reporting the movie probably lost 133 million dollars after marketing and distribution costs, the movie being one of the biggest flops of all time.

I don't know why Hollywood makes all these movies with 'girl bosses' while making these 'girl

bosses' the villain of the story, complaining after, that people don't like them and the movie!

Jean was annoying, and an awful character! I hated her, and wanted her d3ad!

Jean was the lead, but kept on k1lling people left and right, and I'm supposed to care for her! She hates people who cared for her (trying to k1ll them), and wanted to protect her,because..reasons! I guess it would have been better knowing she k1lled her own mother, causing the car accident she and her family was in, her father wanting nothing to do with her, after! Can you blame him?!

This is a movie from the 'woke' period of Hollywood, so Raven tells Charles, the X Men should have been called X Women, because the women keep on saving the men.Bleah! It's called a team effort, b1tch! Although, I do admit, they could have come up with a better title, although I guess the 'men' stood for 'people'.

The visual effects were good.

The acting was mostly good. I loved Michael Fassbender, but he always gives 100%, he has such an expressive face, you can always see the emotions on his face. I also liked Jessica Chastain, who plays this emotionless alien.

I never liked James McAvoy as Professor X, although I loved him in all the other movies I've seen him in, he's one of the best actors. I think in this movie he tried to sound like the 'original' professor, and at times he nailed it, but I think he should have just played him the way he does any other character.

I didn't like Sophie Turner as Jean, I think she was miscast. She was the weak link of the movie, as I also didn't like her acting.

I liked the soundtrack.

The movie is for free on FXNow, 7 days free on FuboTv, with subscription on Disney+, YouTubeTv, and for rent / sale on Amazon, AppleTv, Fandango at Home.
