The movie is based on the 2012 Antony Johnston and Sam Hart graphic novel 'The coldest city'.

10 days before the fall of the Berlin wall, an MI6 agent is killed by a KGB agent, stealing The List of every active agent in Berlin,on both sides.

One day later,a top level MI6 spy,Lorraine Broughton is sent to get the List and find Satchel,a double agent for the KGB. Lorraine was also involved romantically with this agent, Gascoigne, who was found dead.

Upon arrival, she is escorted by what she discovers to be KGB agents in disguise, who pose as her MI6 team. She manages to crash their car,and get away.

Right behind them was her real contact,MI6 agent David Percival, who looks a bit suspicious himself.

Lorraine's suspicions of him might be correct,as she is ambushed by the police while searching Gascoigne's place, where she finds a picture of him and David(David said he didn't know the man),a place she only told him she was visiting.

From her arrival in Berlin, Lorraine is followed by Delphine Lasalle ,who rescues her from a meeting with KGB agent,Bremovych ,while in a restaurant favored by the KGB. The two women end up dating.

Lorraine and her team want to help a Stasi officer who had memorized all the names on the list, get out of Berlin.

David Percival seems to work both sides,as Lasalle photographs him with the KGB,and then, when they try to get the Stasi officer out,he shoots him.

The movie didn't quite grab me,one hour in,and I was already bored!

I hated Charlize's fake English accent, she acted as if she can't act with that accent, which we know it's not the case!

I did like the places where they shot. The colors of the movie which was mostly in black and white(the interiors),and blue, her hotel room was in neon lights.

I liked the fight scenes, especially the long, which seemed uncut, fight scene from the staircase to outside into the car.

I liked the soundtrack,I liked most of the songs of the movie.

I liked Charlize's outfits. From what I remember, the 80's had mad hair and makeup, meaning loud, but she didn't wear any of that.

The movie contains nudity,so viewer discretion is advised.

The movie grossed 100 million dollars worldwide, against a budget of 30 million.

The critics gave it positive reviews, while the audiences of Cinema Score gave it a B, on an A+ to F scale.

The movie is for rent / sale on Amazon, AppleTv, Fandango at Home.

Rating : Could have been a contender!
