The movie is based on the 2011 novel of the same name by S.J. Watson.

Christine wakes up scared in the morning, and rushes into the bathroom. She doesn't seem to remember who she is or where she is, and she sees pictures on the bathroom wall of her with a man and a post it, with his name, Ben.

When she leaves the bathroom, the man is waiting for her on the bed, telling her he is her husband, Ben, and she suffers from amnesia after a car accident which took place 14 years before! He tells her she can't make new memories, as every morning she forgets everything that happened to her the day before.

After he goes to work, she sees that she has a big bruise on her face.

She receives a call from a man who says he is doctor Nasch, a neuropsychologist, who gave her a camera to record herself at the end of the day, where to say what happened on that day, and the information she learned. When they meet he tells her they've been meeting for about 2 weeks, daily, without her husband's knowing.

With the help of the doctor she starts finding out things about her accident and her life, things her husband hid from her, like, she wasn't in a car accident, she was found full of blood, wrapped in a sheet in a parking lot, near a hotel near the airport. Which means she was having an affair.

She finds out she had a son, Adam, that her husband says he didn't tell her about, as he died when he was 8 years old. She finds out she had a good friend,Claire, whom her husband tells her moved away, which she later finds out it's not true. She also finds out Ben divorced her 4 years before, and when asked he told her he couldn't deal with how she was in this amnesiac state.

 

Although this should make her distrust Ben, she comes to the opposite conclusion, as Claire tells her she had an affair, cheating on Ben, who found out from the police when she was found half d3ad.Claire gives her a letter from Ben which makes her trust Ben, and tell him everything.

Instead of being happy she is getting better, and trusts him, feeling closer to him, Ben hits her! Not just that, but he puts her to sleep, and she wakes up the next day, naked, when the movie started.

What if Ben is not who he says he is, and he is the one she should really be afraid of?

I personally enjoyed the movie, it pulled me into its rhythm, I wanted to know what was happening, as it was obvious from her nightmares, she was not in a car accident. From the nightmares, she thinks a man name Mike might be the one who hurt her, and she thinks he has a scar on his face. Mike is also the name of her doctor.

The acting was good, Nicole Kidman, as always, never disappoints, as she was the best.

The soundtrack was good.

The movie received negative reviews from critics, and grossed 15 million dollars at the box office, against a budget of 22 million, being a flop.

Cinema Score audiences graded the movie a C+.
