Walter wakes up late and drives to work, where we find out he left the office at 2 o'clock in the morning.
At the morning meeting Walter is told by his boss he needs to get the contract with Yakamoto industries (thing which should be a sure shot, as mister Yakamoto has agreed to entrust his personal and corporate assets to their firm), and warns him he is old fashioned, and a misogynist.
Although he's a workaholic, his boss tells him he needs to invest in his look, giving as example his friend / co-worker who wears designer clothes. He also tells him to bring a date to the meeting.
Walter asks his brother to let his wife play his date. His brother tells him about Nadia, who is his wife's cousin. Walter doesn't want to hear about it, as all the women he hooked him up with came with baggage.
Nadia is no different, as he tells him not to give her alcohol, as she goes crazy.
Nadia takes him to an art exhibit, with weird art, where he meets her ex, who seems unhinged. That same night, he takes her to a music studio, to listen to music, telling her he wanted to be a musician.
Walter likes her, and ignores his brother's words, buying champagne and offering her a glass. Although she tells him she can't drink it, she still does (the whole glass), although she could have said No, or just pretended to drink.
After this, they go to Walter's meeting with Yakamoto. Nadia starts telling people whatever comes to mind, and tears off men's front coat pockets. She sprays the champagne on Walter's boss, and tells Yakamoto's wife, who is supposed to be like a sort of slave for him,she can divorce him and get half of his assets.
Due to her behavior, Walter's boss fires him.
This is not all, as her ex keeps on following them the whole evening, trying to beat up Walter.
I didn't quite enjoy the movie, as I don't like movies in which everything goes from worse to worst, but I enjoyed the part with the stalker talking to the judge revealed ,after, to be his father, and then all of the interactions he had with his father, and pretty much whenever his dad was on the screen.
It's supposed to be a comedy, but I don't remember laughing.
The acting was fine.
I didn't like the soundtrack.
The movie received negative reviews from critics, but opened at number 1, and was considered a financial success, grossing 39.3 million dollars against a budget of 16 million.
Cinema Score audiences graded the movie a B.
The movie was supposed to feature Madonna and Sean Penn, who were recently married, as the leads, but the couple backed out of the project when it failed to attract a director.
