Temistocle Krecinski and Paguba (Romanian for ' damage, loss') are two gamblers, Temistocle having colossal debt, Paguba being caught while trying to cheat his gambling partners.
The two meet on the street after being kicked out of the gambling rooms, Paguba after being badly beaten, not only by those he played with, but also by everyone else present in the gambling room!
One day, while trying to muster up the courage to enter a store to buy something, Temistocle sees a rich man's family, and decides to court the not so presentable and not so smart, daughter.
He lets his friends know about it, as if it's already done. He gives them money to buy flowers to deliver them to the girl, along with a letter announcing that he wants to court her.
The girl, Lidocika, already has a suitor, who looks like count Orlok from Nosferatu, just as slow as she is, but who seems to have real feelings for her.
Temistocle conquers Lidocika with his letter, and after, with a tango he invites her to.
This earns him a two days invitation to the country estate of Lidocika's father, Mister Barbarasa( Romanian for 'shaven beard') .
Temistocle takes his friends with him, making them pretend to be wealthy foreigners, all to win over, not only Lidocika, but also her parents.
Lidocika's suitor is there too, with his father, trying not to lose her, but the girl already seems to be in love with Temistocle.
I personally enjoyed the movie, I laughed the whole time at the characters and the ridiculousness of the situation, the dialogue being what gives the comedy its flavor.
I liked the world created by Bendeac, the sets were beautiful, the dialogue flows, it seems to come naturally, everything is very well written. I look forward to watching other movies written and directed by him.
The movie was made after Bendeac directed and starred in the play 'Krechinsky's wedding' written by the Russian philosopher and playwright A.V. Sukhovo-Kobylin.
The visual effects were good.
The soundtrack was very good, I loved it. The songs of the artists chosen, were so good, I started listening to them after I watched the movie!
The actors were good.
'Casatoria' means 'the marriage'.
The movie is streaming on Netflix.
