Corky is a vet assistant who dreams of losing the assistant in front of the vet. Due to his sunny and friendly nature, his family pushed him away, as he, as the son of a mob boss, was putting the family name to shame.
The same family is asking him now,as their last resort, to go undercover into the FBI facility,as he is the only one in the family the feds don't know, and get the evidence the bureau has against pops Romano, as their father is facing a life in prison due to the charges pressed against him.
There's only one problem, Corky can't even put a sick cat down, and while pretending to be an FBI agent,he gets closer to his family as he sees them more often, gets himself into bad situations--due to the resume the computer nerd wrote-- that his family or his colleagues get him out of, and helps the agents his family catches ( he literally gets electrocuted by his family employees as he goes to get 2 agents out).
He makes a lot of friends in the force due to his friendly and open nature ( the agents saved, wear the kind of ties he wears, and even the chief Shuster, wears the kind of ties he does--very colorful),and even gets himself a wife,in the form of the beautiful agent Kate Russo, played by Vinessa Shaw.
In the end,he manages to save his father and catch the Night Vulture, the serial killer, more or less, who was terrorizing the streets.
The acting was great, the movie still makes me laugh no matter how many times I watch it,what can I say..oh,and my favorite scene is with Baby Jesus and Pierre.
Zach Galifianakis has a cameo in the movie, as the computer nerd.
Corky's nickname is allegedly taken from the real life New Jersey mobster Gaetano Vastola, who's nickname among the mafia ranks was Corky.
The movie was panned by critics who stated this was a bad movie featuring SNL members.
Although the movie received mostly negative reviews, it made back the money invested in it, earning more than 25 million dollars at the box office, against a budget of 11 million.
Actor Robert Pattinson listed Corky Romano as one of his favorites.
Rating : Worth a watch !
