The movie is based on the 1937 Agatha Christie book of the same name, and is followed by 'A haunting in Venice' ,the movie itself being a sequel to the 2017 movie, 'Murder on the Orient Express'.
The movie, just like the book, follows the adventures of Belgian detective Hercule Poirot.
In 1937,at a London club, blues singer Salome Otterbourne performs. Jackie is dancing(pretty racy if you ask me) with her fiance Simon Doyle.
Seeing heiress Linnet Ridgeway, a childhood friend, she decides to introduce him to her,as he needs a job. She tells Linnet how in love she is with him,and asks her to offer him a job.
6 weeks later, Poirot finds himself in Egypt where he finds out Linnet is marrying Simon.
Linnet wants to embark on a Nile honeymoon trip, with a couple of her friends, and asks Poirot to offer her his protection,as Jackie is now following her and Simon everywhere.
Poirot sees Jackie at a place the two were, and gets to talk to her. She tells him how madly in love she is with Simon, sounding like she lost her mind.
After a trip to Abu Simbel, where she almost died, Linnet tells Poirot she doesn't trust her guests.
Back on the ship, Linnet finds out Jackie is on board, and Jackie makes a scene, shooting Simon in the leg, trying to shoot herself, after. They give her something to calm down, and someone watches over her,as she's resting.
In the morning Linnet is found dead, and her priceless necklace is missing. Poirot starts to investigate, and questioning the guests he finds out every one of them had a reason to kill her, including Salome, Poirot's love interest.
Linnet seems to have not been such a nice person, and maybe people's dislike of her was justified (as she complained earlier in the movie about not having real friends).
The actors were good.
The CGI was good, the colors vibrant. The late 1930's Egypt was beautifully depicted.
The soundtrack was Ok.
The movie is streaming on FuboTv, and is for rent / sale on Amazon, DirecTv, Google Play Movies, Vudu, YouTube.
Rating : Worth a watch !
